Hi - I have a RR 4 years. A few months ago he developed a small bald patch on his rump and the vet could offer no explanation so I did'nt worry about it. It appears to be a patch of hard skin and is about the size of 5p.  He has now suddently developed a similar patch on his rump.  Strangely (well i think) these patches are about an 1" either side of his tail.  He's not scratching and has just finished a course of Stronghold.  Any ideas please?

Have you looked at this thread?  Is it the same?

Thanks for that Lunamoona - some of the descriptions would appear to be the same but my dog's bald spots are more on his rump than near any glands.  It would seem it's nothing to worry about - just spoils his beauty as he is a very handsome large red wheaten Rhodesian Ridgebck!!
