Hi All

It seems that naturediet have yet again got more problems supplying, i went to pets at home yesterday to get some puppy naturediet for Robbie my westie pup and the shelves were clear also they were very low on the adult range, i asked them and they said that they were having problems getting supplies from them at the moment, i have tried other pet shops in my area and they too have no stocks.
I have had to get some natures harvest puppy to give him while naturediet is having problems, i have also seen forthglade do a food aswell which is all natural ingredients, i don't want to use a food full of crap and would rather feed more natural food to him, any suggestions i would be very grateful for, i have heard good reports about natures harvest so hopefully this will be okay for him.

Thanks again
Helen

Hi Helen

I actually prefer Natures Harvest to ND - I can't believe there are supply problems again!!! I stopped using ND and went predominantly raw about 3 years ago after the last lot of problems but do like to give NH/ND a couple of times a week (or when I forget to get stuff out of the freezer!).

I'm sure Robbie will be fine with NH.

Hi Helen,

I'd recommend Nature's Harvest too - IMO it's better quality than ND and I've had no problems getting supplies from PAH.  Nature's Menu is OK too but out of the three I'd rate Nature's Harvest as the best (i.e. going by the dogs' preferences LOL)

HTH, Teri :)

Nature diet is coming through again now, I have just been and got some.  I tried Natures harvest and it made my dog quite poorly and runny.  I also wondered how different flavours could all be the same colour etc, with ND each flavour is the colour you would expect it to be.

Hi, I work on behalf of Naturediet and have noticed a lot of bad press, rumor and misinformation on these forums surrounding the company. I feel it is only right that the company should have the opportunity to address these issues in a manner that reaches this audience.

To this end please find below a statement on behalf of the company.

"As you might be aware, the supply of Naturediet dog food has been limited recently. Despite speculation from Internet bloggers and forum users, we are still producing product and supplies are reaching wholesalers.

It is true that there was a technical problem that caused one of our machines to be shut down over the Christmas period. Obviously this meant production could not match demand during this busy time. We would like to apologise to all our customers, and to re-assure everyone that we are now producing at full capacity.

The technology we rely on to produce the Naturediet packs is immensely complicated, unfortunately this means technical issues do take time to fix properly. Our production facility at Shipdham in Norfolk usually operates 24 hours-a-day, six-days-a -week, so you can imagine how even this small break in production had a larger knock-on affect.

We are immensely sorry for the disruption this has caused to both trade clients and end users, and now expect to have all orders fulfilled within a matter of weeks.

If anyone still has any queries on the disruption in supply, contact us on 01362 822320."

Helen,

Arden Grange now make a canned wet food which is also very good.  You can order it directly from Arden Grange or other web sites.   Pets at Home do not stock it.

I stopped feeding my dogs ND several years ago after they had problems with their equipment and I really did not like the way the company handled issues that came up with dogs becoming ill because of spoiled food.  I just never felt comfortable with them again in terms of their quality control practices.

That said, in terms of the recipe I think ND is a very good food.  However, my theory is that unless there is a dietary reason that you should not always stick to the same food.  There are many people who actually recommend doing this soley because no single food is perfect and feeding a variety is actually better for your dog.  So when a pack of ND is finished, feed Natures Harvest, or whatever you choose that agrees with you and your puppy.  That way if the supply is short of one food it will never be a problem for you.

Hi Teri,

Where do you buy your Nature's Harvest from if you don't mind me asking?  :-)
- By Teri Date 28.01.09 11:02 UTC
Morning Pam,

I buy it from Pets at Home at the moment.  I don't know if NH do a direct scheme where it would work out cheaper (I should really look into that LOL)

Teri :)

I have started buying Natures Menu in tins as like Nature Diet I have been unable to get the Natures Menu in Pouches that I did use for my 2 toy poodles. I have found that the older of my 2 dogs rusty seems to much prefer the tins anyway so as he has always been such a fussy eater I will stick with the tins. I have used Nature Diet and Natures Harvest in the past but Rusty wasn"t keen at all in fact Pepe the younger dog has been eating the last few trays of Natures Harvest to use it up whilst Mr Fussy (Rusty) has had the tins of Natures Menu. They will be both getting the tins from now on.

Teri, I don't know how it compares with PAH prices, but I order direct (http://www.natures-harvest.org/) using their online shop.
- By Teri Date 28.01.09 11:28 UTC
Thanks for the link - I'll look into that :)  I don't remember the exact price in PAH but I think it's around 80p or so, a few pence different from ND but can't remember if higher or lower.  I'll check it out though!

Cheers, Teri

I,ve tried most of the decent wet foods with my 6 month old shiba puppy with no luck.He turned hi nose up at all of them.I then tried 'JOE AND JACKS' from Tescos and he hasn't refused a meal since

I can't get their basket to work at this moment. Is it free shipped after a certain amount as the shipping makes it quite pricey for one or two packs.

I see petplanet are doing it also.

The puppy seems to me to be the best value overall at the same price too.

I'll maybe pick up a couple and see if mine like it, fine for travelling to the shows etc.

I generally stop on the way and return at M&S and buy them a chicken  :-)

It's fab for taking away - that's why I first tried it!  It's also very easy to open, an easy peel back film on top.
- By Miranda53 [gb] Date 28.01.09 12:21 UTC
James Wellbeloved all-natural wet pouches are also a good alternative.  Relatively inexpensive - if you order a case of 18 it works out at about 60p a pouch.

Asa ive looked at the link and it looks very good but i carnt find the food for puppies ? my girl is only 3months x
- By Mini [gb] Date 28.01.09 13:19 UTC
82p for Nature's Harvest in PAH, NatureDiet is 75p (these things imprint on my memory for some reason - same with car registration plates, could go back years!) and that link works out at 85p per pack, for lamb anyway.
- By Teri Date 28.01.09 13:38 UTC
Thanks Mini - so it seems slightly better value from PAH ..... I found with ND that I had to buy far too much direct to get a good discount, probably the same with this brand.

Cheers. Teri :)

Looks like PAH is as cheap as any to which is a welcome change.  :-)

Will pick sum up :-)

I have been buying Tesco Sardines by the shed load at 32 p  it is cheap as chips really to mix with biscuit.

Last week I am sure the girl in Tescos thought I was mad ( hmm)  about 40 different weight watchers things and 100 tins of Sardines..
- By Mini [gb] Date 28.01.09 14:53 UTC
Me too, and considering that one pack of the ND or NM lasts my lot two dinners (!) it could take me some time to get through it all.
- By tigran [gb] Date 28.01.09 16:18 UTC
Hi Dont know if you have an Asda near you, but their sardines are 18p per tin.!
My dogs and cats love them,

I'm using the adult one ...mixing it with puppy complete. As I said its the only thing I can get him to eat ...I've even tried Barf with no luck.
I've just had a look at nature diet and natures menu and can see little if any difference between the adult and puppy varieties...can anybody explain the difference.
- By WENDYD [gb] Date 28.01.09 19:32 UTC
Well, having seen that Natures Menu have brought out the tins, I went and bought 3 Tins to try them, all 3 walked away from it (it was the chicken one) so won't be buying that again. Funny thing is they will eat the Natures Harvest! fussy or what?
- By Blue Date 28.01.09 23:38 UTC
Oh I'll need to look in Asda/ :-)
- By kiger [gb] Date 30.01.09 00:11 UTC
ive got my fussy small breed on joe & jacks now too.im really happy with it,he is in great condition now :-) and its half price in tesco's at the mo :-D
- By Pedlee Date 30.01.09 09:05 UTC
I'm using ND at the moment as my local farm supplies store is selling it for 66p. Also I can now open the lids - yippee!!! They must have done something with the sticking process as it's now easy-peasy!
- By dvnbiker [gb] Date 30.01.09 13:50 UTC
also think about trying Wainwrights tins (not the foil trays) the ingredients are as good as naturediet and its they are cheaper.  I get about 6 tins for £3.83.
