Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Natures harvest ?
- By Trevor [gb] Date 17.01.09 06:57 UTC
We usually feed out dogs Naturediet but when I went to collect our usual supply the store owner said that they had been having further difficulties and only had the sensitive variety in - I'm pretty fed upp with the erratic reliability of supply although it is an excellent foood - he reccomended Natures Harvest - has anyone tried this ?-what did you think ?

I sometimes give Floyd the Natures Harvest, the one that he loves the most is Lamb and Brown Rice, I normally give him a couple of spoons mixed with some hot water to make a gravy and then mix his biscuit in and it really does smell quite good, he is not keen on the fish variety, but he he likes both fish varieties in Naturediet.  Also if I can't get hold of the varieties I want I will get Wainwrights Tripe and Rice, Floyd also likes this one, but I use them mainly to make a nice thick gravy to coat his biscuits.  I think all of the ones mentioned are good.

I'd also be interested in knowing what other people recommed.
I had a phone call yesterday from Berriewoods telling me that they also haven't been able to get any stock, so am also looking for an alternative.

IMO Natures Harvest is better than ND and much easier to open the packs! Although it is a tad more expensive. I feed my lot predominantly raw, but a couple of times a week I like to give them NH or ND.

i also prefer Natures Harvest to ND, though my boy generally will eat anything! he gets a few packs a week with his kibble. he also likes the Natures Menu, all available from PAH.

Arden Grange do a really good tinned food called "Partners".  It really is excellent and my dogs love it.  I am gradually moving onto this from Naturediet simply because Naturediet have stopped using tripe, which, I believe is really good for dogs.

I have been getting nature menu tins 400gms seem a better buy, chicken potatoes and carrot and chicken and salmon.
My girls love these.

where do you buy the tins from? i havent seen these anywhere. also, in answer to the tripe issue, i give my boy a block of tripe (also from PAH) twice a week, and he loves it.

Ive been getting them at our local large pet store close to us.
I have seen them on nature menu website, might be worth a look.

I have just started buying Natures Menu in tins for my 2 poodles, I have previously used the Natures Menu pouches but have tried the tins as I was unable to get the pouches and have found my older poodle who is 4 much prefers the tins, he has always been extremely fussy and I have tried Natures Diet and Natures Harvest and have had to really encourage him to eat these whereas fingers crossed no such problems with the natures menu tins. I can only think that the consistency is different in that the pouches were more like a pate and the tins are not. I just hope that he doesn't go off the tins in time. My younger poodle isn't a problem to feed so I am currently using up the Natures Harvest I had bought on him.

Hi Yvonne

another user of NH here - all the dogs love it and it seems better IMO than ND.  I've had no problems getting it easily and also no suspect quality packs (which I've had with ND).

HTH, Teri :)

Just replied on the other post so will copy that reply onto here.
Nature diet is coming through again now, I have just been and got some.  I tried Natures harvest and it made my dog quite poorly and runny.  I also wondered how different flavours could all be the same colour etc, with ND each flavour is the colour you would expect it to be.
