Hi Guys,
Don't know if you remember my previous post when Zuma had op on 18 Dec for poss blockage. He came home on 19th with 5 days ABs etc. He did fairly well but the inscision didn't look quite right, felt a bit lumpy and hot so up Vets on 3 Jan and had 5 days ABs with option of 5 days more if needed, took all them, last ones on Tues am, by Wed eve he was a bit quiet, yesterday def a bit 'off'. Vets last night, she had a look - area was hot and tissue was hard, decided to have him in today for sedation and proper examination.
I picked him up mid afternoon, they had done ultrasound looked ok, taken swabs of surface area and sent off and given him Metacam until results come back. Vet thinks it may be an extreme reaction to the internal stitches as lot of 'fibrous tissue' around and under scar. She said if it doesn't clear soon she will refer him but didn't say to who/where.
Last nights Vet got me in a bit of a panic as she was on about swab for 'worst case' mrsa
Anyone had anything similar, got any ideas thoughts etc PLEASE.
Chris

PS insurance paid the first bill and no mention about excluding the removal of the undescended testicle.

Any news?

spoke to vet this evening, skin swab showed e-coli collecting 5 days a/b in morning, Metacam has improved scar-line, not nearly as 'hard' and most of redness has gone, I should finish that and a/bs same time so then we wait and see what happens and hope it doesn't kick off again. Just seems to be an extreme reaction to the internal stitches........ mental note to self - shout loudly if he ever needs any surgery in the future.
thanks for asking, Chris
