I am a big dis-believer in ghosts and after life, but I would always be open for things that would convince me otherwise.
So that is why I have been watching Most Haunted Live in Liverpool this week.

Some parts have been convincing to me, HOWEVER, part of me says that the producer would need to keep the viewers levels up for a good program so MAYBE some of the weird things that happen are staged?

Take for instance last night with David one of the team, about 15 mins before the show was coming to an end, he was taken ill and they had to call for an ambulance as he collapsed with a fever, now if this was real, I would wish David a full recovery and hope he is ok, but with anyone that may watch this show on a regular basis will maybe see that either Karl or Stuart normally have something terrible happen to them to build up a climax for the finishing show, am I right?

I will be watching it tonight, just to see what else is going to happen and to see if I still think it is a stage show or real happenings, I would like to believe there is life after we pass on, and really watch these shows to try and believe.

And just another thing, IF David was ill surely the media would have picked this story up and it would be on the newspapers and stuff but I have searched and searched and just can't find anything!

please give me your opinions on this show and whether or not you believe?

I don't believe in any of the TV shows - they are made for TV after all :-p

BUT that said I do believe there are things we will never understand and should not mess with.  I'd never use a ouja board for example or go to a seance, not even tempted to.

right, well i think most haunted is a pile of poop- quiet entertaining for a watch though :)

on the other hand i am a firm believer in the afterlife and also ghosts. we used to have a ghost in my old house. she was a plesant old lady who liked to play tricks on my sister. she also had, during life, stored frankincense in the cupboard in our dining room. every once in a while, not always, this cupboard would reak of frankinscence. the only frankinsence in the house was rock form (doesn't smell till its burnt and you can tell when its burnt, very smoky), kept upstairs on the opposite side of the house in a sealed jar in my alter.

my great gran was also a bit gifted and told my great grandad when his brothers boat was torpedoed during the war. they got the telegram the next morning with the exact time she'd told him as the time the boat was hit.

its something you need to see to believe i think though.

it depends how you do it, if the area is blessed and concecrated and your not doing anything dodgy you'll be fine :)

I actually do believe in spirits and energies, however all these reality haunted shows IMO are complete pap, when (whats his name, you can tell I hardly watch it?) has his body taken over and starts hurling abuse, bad language and putting on voices I just burst out laughing, this is pure entertainment, the man should win an oscar. :-D or not, actually, the acting is terrible!

I think he gets some relief from it though, a bit like a ventriloquist blaming the dummy, the boys were flicking chanels the other day and caught a moment on Most Haunted when he was bent over shrieking at Daniella Westbrook that she was a sl*g, we just died of laughter.

It is the biggest load of ........... poppycock on tv. All of them are acting their little hearts out.

I think he should get a proper job and start earning a living :-)

quite.

is it just me or is anyone else driven mad by yvettes mascara? it looks awful on the night cameras! like she's got spiders climbing out of her eyes!
- By Gemini05 Date 16.01.09 13:16 UTC
What a relief! I thought I was like the only one that laughed at the different happenings! :)

My husband believes in it more then I do, and can get quite excited with the different things that happen on the show, I must admit though, Kiran one of the team on the show has in the past given answers to the possible things that have happened such as a cold room, could be because the window is open etc !
and that is how I look at the program, the recent knocking or tapping noisey they keep hearing, I believe is made up, another crew member is doing it, and it always gets me that things are seen by the team, but the camera is never on when they see them to prove to us at home what is happening! lol

I would also like to add, that IF this is real, and they are in contact with the devil himself then firstly I am sure the devil has loads of powers that he could show himself and shout a bit louder then he is at the moment!
AND IF it is real and the devil has been raised by them then surely if you was terrified of the outcome and what was happening then surely you would have someone come and cleance the room and STOP messing with it!
Also IF this is real, and the devil has been raised, and David is REALLY seriously ill then surely something like the big TV bosses would stop the broadcasting AND the media would be full of stories to print and to report on Davids illness due to the show?

But that all said, I will be watching it again tonight, just to see what happens and to laugh at the actors! lol
(did you see that, did you hear that, copy me eeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

We used to be big fans of most haunted in the early series when Derek Akora was on it, hugely entertaining and just occasionaly, things did happen that made you think....... Now, I think it is just all hyped up with no substance to it at all. However, I am a big believer in the afterlife, we are convinced that my old dog, Otto, has stayed put in the house with some really odd things happening, like the bin lid banging on its own ( he loved to raid the bin) doors banging on there own and, just recently, OH shouting down the stairs for Arnie, to get back up here, but Arnie was already in the bedroom with me. OH is absolutely sure he saw a solid liver gsp run down the stairs past him.
I actually find it quite comforting thinking Otto is hanging about, to me it means he really did love being with us, but maybe that is me just being hugely sentimental.......

Gosh I couldn't stand Derek Akora, talk about over acting, the only spirits he could see were the ones you drink!  After watching Most Haunted a few times it's actually turned me into a disbeliever whereas before I did feel that there may be something in it.

All old buildings, houses make noises that you would least expect.
- By goldie [gb] Date 16.01.09 14:00 UTC
Ive been watching it,and ive never seen any thing that convinces me their is something or someone there.
My hubby says its all put on for the show or there wouldnt be a show to have if they didnt do something for the viewers.

Its always karl or stuart that it happens to....funny that being yvettes husband and karls cousin.
I will still watch tonight though i may miss something, but i dont think so.

Gemini05, maybe this article will help you decide....

In NZ I used to watch a program called Sensing Murder.  They used to bring in psychics to an unknown location and just give them some item that belonged to a murder victim.  These were unsolved murders from several years in the past.  They often sounded very authentic and would come up with information that the police had never released.  If you can find it on-line it is well worth watching although I found it quite upsetting at times as the psychics really picked up on the sadness of the people passed.

Mine too. I think it's a load of rubbish but it's quite entertaining to watch them all acting up to the cameras.

I am reasonably open to the idea of an afterlife (ever hopeful) and ghosts, I just don't think you'd ever see one on Most Haunted!
- By dexter [gb] Date 16.01.09 15:15 UTC
I believe in the afterlife for sure :-)
But i also think MH and similar shows are a load of old tosh, they jump if someone breaks wind :-P same old nosies different day :-P

Have they actually seen anything in any of their shows?

I've watched this and the Australian woman seems to be brilliant and they've even solved some of the murders that are from 20 years or so ago.

Who knows whats waiting for us. As long as I up and not down I'll be happy. I wonder if there's many single angels up there :)

I am a disbeliever of ghosts and the afterlife.  There have been times, that I "think" I seen something, or heard something, but later on it can always be explained.
The ghost shows are really popular over here (Paranormal State, The Ghost Whisperer, Creepy Canada, etc) and a lot of people believe in them.  I just dont know.
There had been times, when I felt something, or heard something, HOPING it was a missed family member, but it usually happens when I am thinking about them a lot, and I want them back.  So I wonder if it is my own doing, that I read to much into things.
- By SandyP Date 19.01.09 07:23 UTC
Have to say I do not really like Most Haunted.I prefer  Sensing Murder too and also Private Physic Detectives, which can be very upsetting at times but does seem to sometimes  bring some closure to the families. As for the afterlife,I am a believer having experienced things myself, one of which was to wave to my nan through the window as I was preparing dinner and asking her how she was.Nothing strange about that you might think but my nan had actually been dead for six years and yet there she was standing there waving back and smiling.

While searching on youtub, I found some clips of Most Haunted!
Well what I saw was very, what can I say, FAKE!

Dont know how to do links so I try and explain.
Yvette and Karl are standing in the dark room being filmed with a night camera, other crew members around the room, then Yvette asks if the camera man got the last noise, then camera man zooms round, in the filming it shows you another crew member with a camera KICKING a saucepan across the room and everyone in the room screaming and asking if the camera got it! Yes he certainly did!
It just shows me that some, if not all of most haunted is F A K E!
There are other clips on youtub too!

I watch Most Haunted for 'entertainment' - this programme was discussed recently in a thread and was shown to be fake . The shows own expert Ciaran O'Keefe outed Dekek Acorah as a fake .
Saying that , it still makes me not want to go upstairs alone after i have been watching it !
- By philly256 [gb] Date 19.01.09 18:49 UTC
I love Most Haunted...watched the live stuff last week and was hooked.....Is it real or fake.....I was watching the webcams and I saw a ghost cat and some orbs.....However I agree ,they always go to a break just as something interesting is about to happen and Derek Acorah was outed by fake by Ciaran o'Keefe AND Yvette Feilding....she is on you tube giving an interview the interviewer finished the interview but the camerras were still rolling when he asked Yvette why Derek really left the show...Was he sacked...Yes cos he was a Fake B...... she replied not realising the camera was still on her

I do believe in ghosts , I have seen many things in my time that have no explanation and also once had a medium come to my place of wrok to seek me out to pass on a message to me from someone from the other side...he named names and everything even describing this person to a tee. I had vener seen this person in my life before that day,nor have I sen him since. He was not a friend or known by my friend who died that i got the message from either.

I do like it even though I know a lot of it isn't "real" it gives me a spooky feeling. The Village of the Damned was well hyped up I think a lot of the knocking was the high wind rain and bad state of the building which is a creepy looking and dangerous place anyway and open so anyone could have got in and played tricks.  The constant adverts and nipping back to Paul Ross drove me nearly nuts!

I believe in ghosts/spirits and I have had messages from my Granddad - at a clairvoyant evening. I didnt really want to go but my friend did so I went along to support her.  It was weird because I didn't take "my" message my friend did as she knew I was skeptical. The message was very, very accurate and completely unprompted by either off us. As he finished speaking he asked my friend where Karen was and then said no not that one, the one that's with you tonight. I waved rather sheepishly and he said that message was for you!
