Has anyone used nappies or sanitary protection for their in season bitch? I have a large breed  bitch who hasnt had a season for over a year and now is having a very heavy one. Im running around with the mop constantly(yuc!!) Ive never used anything like this before as the girls are very clean I just wondered how anyone got on with them or were they a waste of time, also if any are particularly good could you let me know what they are called,
Many thanks

My first leo wore her pants when she had a season.
She was ok with pants and the house did stay clean.
She was very lazy when it came to keeping herself clean and this was why we desided to see if the pants would work.
She could still lick herself etc (when she remembered and felt like it) just fine with the pants on.
We used sanitary towels in her pants but I have no idea of the name or make of the pants.

They are called mikki hygiene pants  come in  dfferent sizes measure the dogs waist to get right fit , think you can get them at pets at home but your vet would get them in for you , used in conjuction with mikki hygiene pads

I'm using them on two bitches at the moment. Admittedly they are a small breed (American Cocker) but hygiene pants are a godsend as far as I'm concerned. Well worth the money.

Yes i've used them.  It is quite funny really but one of my girls actually likes wearing them and seems to 'parade' around in them!!  It was embarrassing when the neighbours saw her though and kept pointing out to everyone that my dogs wear pants!!

The make i use is Mikki and i just buy cheap panty liners and double them over in the flap.

Hi willowsmum, my Cavalier girl is entire and I use the mikki hygiene pants with the little pads in when she's in season. You buy the pads separately, I got mine from Pets at Home. I have found them very useful, as she has a white sofa which she sleeps on  (yes she has her own sofa - she is spoilt!)

The only problem we encountered was when my OH forgot she had the pants on and let her out for a wee...oh dear!!

I am using the pants now and they are great , she like to have them on and has never tried to bite them off. You need to take them off when the dog go's out to poop, and you use this time to put a fresh pad in the pants. The only problem I had was the other night, she went down stirs and had a poop and it went in her pants, its not like her to do anything in the house, but she is still only 8 months and as this is her first heat I expect she is not feeling her self, so make shore your dog has a poop before bedtime lol  I would defiantly recommend them

I have some frilly cotton baby pants, the ones that cover nappies;) with a hole cut for the tail :-D  Just a pant liner is needed and can be bought cheaply at morrisons.  Keeps everything nice and fresh ;) and how cute is my girlie with her pink frillies :-D

Got the pants XL and still on the small side!!! but doing the job ive had to use night time towels (kotex) and stick them inside the pants as the pads that come with it are a little small, nearly died when our neighbour came in and saw them drying on the pulley goodness knows what they thought they were or worse who they belonged to!!!!!
Well worth it though, thanks again
