JCB (my OH's employer) have just announced a further 684 redundancies! Argh!!! He's only been there a year!!  He got through the first round, even turned down another job because they assured him he was safe but now I'm not too sure! It's gonna be a tough 3 months of waiting!! I've only just recovered from worrying last time! When will all this doom & gloom end?  :(

It's a really rubbish time just now.  Fingers crossed.  I really hope he's ok.

I'm in the surveying industry, and things are not good here either.

It's quite scarey isn't it.
Really hope things work out for you Gembo.

Fingers well and truly crossed for your O/H gembo, let's hope he is not one of the unlucky ones, it is going to be terrible for many this year. :-(

What a terrible strat of the year for many families :(  I hope your OH's Job stays safe.

My boyfriends only just found a job after being made redundant back in the summer :(  Doom and Gloom has hit everyone, some worse then others.  The main thing is, it's not life or death situations :)

keeping my fingers crossed. my boyfriend works for persimmons homes, and hes been on his notice 3 times in 2008, and managed to keep his job! hes been there for just under 2 years and is least experienced of all site agents, but they must like him! keep your head up, whatever will be, and whats meant to happen will. perhaps start looking around for other jobs, not necesarily in same business, my boyf was looking into the railway (my dad works for them) and local supermarket nightshifts, anything to keep money coming into the house.

There sales are down 75% on last year, we are in the construction trade and it is slow out there. I hope your OH is lucky but I cant see much on the horizon. We say it takes two years to get into a recession, and two years to get back to where we were so its got a way to go yet.

The growth areas are marketing, we all need help getting out there to get work.

I agree although it feels like it sometimes! :(

He found out yesterday that from his dept of 64, 5 will be made redundant & they will find out in the next few weeks, as you can imagine there are plenty of rumours & the biggest is that the managers are going to be the ones to go as this is the area of business that hasn't taken a hit as yet.  I know it won't be good for the people that are made redundant but I hope these rumours are right. I work in financial services & have seen a massive drop in my earnings over the past 6 months & I fear for our house if he is made redundant.  When they made the first round of redundancies in October time OH looked around & was offered another job, spoke to JCB about it & they gave him a slight payrise & told him his job was safe so I will be furious if they do make him redundant after that!

Thank you all for your kind words, I know I'm not alone in this & I hope those of you who are also suffering see some improvement soon!  It's only Jan & I'm already looking forward to seeing the end of this year, it's gonna be a tough one! (plus I'm getting married in 2010 so would like to see this year fly by!!! :) :) :))

Chin up guys, lets try & keep each other positive! Where's HG with her fun ganes when you need a bit of distraction???

Well yes I can imagin, but if you have your wedding to look forward to then focus on that when you need a smile :)

Here's to wishhing all champdogs 'friends' an easy time in this doom and gloom, may you and your families and dogs all be well and together, whatever happends!  And Remember...There's free internet within libararys should the going get tough and you still need a CD fix! ;)

Fingers crossed for everyone - I don't think there are many safe jobs at the moment.  Pretty scarey stuff, but it will turn around and I hope not in the too distant future.  Keeping everything crossed.
