hi, i have a 17 week old bullmastiff cross with dog de bordeaux but to me just looks like bullmastiff so i'm not sure. He weighs 18.8 kilos thats 41.5pound, 3 stone just wondered if this woz ok weight because someone told me that woz a bit on the small side as they sed a average bullmastiff bitch at 19 weeksweighed 24 kilos which seems a bit much i'm not sure... he also has really webbed feet is this normal... andrea

Can't answer the average weight on a Bullmastif x DDB at 17 weeks. Only that the adult weights should be with both breeds combined somewhere between 50-68kg, often pups grow at different rates, all breeds have below and above average weights, with a cross too, it will be difficult to judge, 3 stone sounds absolutely fine to me, certainly not underweight for a 17 week old pup.

We have quite a few Bullmastiff and DDB breeders and owners on here hopefully they will come along soon and have logged down their dogs weight at approx 17 weeks to reassure you. :-)

Re: The webbed feet, generally webbed feet are common in dogs used in water, Bullmastiffs have webbed feet, not sure about DDB's. :-)

Even if your pup was a pure Bullmastiff there is no set weight for each age. All pups grow at different weights and as long as your pup is a healthy weight for it's frame (ie, not too fat or too thin) then he's fine.

>someone told me that woz a bit on the small side as they sed a average bullmastiff bitch at 19 weeksweighed 24 kilos

My male Mastiff (bigger breed than a Bullmastiff or a Douge) only weighed a couple of kilos heavier than this at 19 weeks and at 17 months he's approx 70kg (heavier than an adult male Bullmastiff - according to the KC breed standard)!!! I don't think 18kg for a 17week old bullmastiff cross is anything to worry about atall :)

Don't pay any attention to the weight of anybody elses pup, all that matters is that your pup is a healthy weight for him.

Dogues have webbed feet so dont worry lol! I cant remember what weight mine were at that age all i can remeber is at 14 weeks puppy being 17kgs but he was a big chunkalunk. You dont want them to be heavy when they are soo young anyway, it can damage joints. It will never be a ''small'' dog, enjoy him being a puppy they grow so quickly one minute you cant wait for them to be the big dog you always wanted and when they are grown you wish for your puppy.

Louise

P.s 24 kilos at 19 weeks i think thats a bit of a fib or the poor pups fat especially a bitch??? My dogues at 3 and 4 are 60kgs fully grown i doubt she was 24 at not even 20 weeks.

thanks. it is true that you cant wait to see them fully grown i cant wait to see what he turns out like. he is a very lazy dog he tends to sleep all the time which is a bit boring lol. ive waited 3 years to get a puppy and wanted a big one when i did i'm not a small dog person and i wanted the cross between these two dogs as i love both breeds and with them both being mastiffs couldnt go wrong but to me he looks more bullmastiff than ddb but his mum was a large fawn bitch bullmastiff no question but his dad who i fell in love with because he was very big even though he was only 12 months and very handsome really nice dog was really dark but neither looked like a bullmastiff or ddb but it didnt matter as he was a mastiff of some type and if cain turned out like his dad i'd be very happy...

I shouldn't worry, there's quite a size range in both breeds (both in height and weight) and of course puppies grow at different rates anyway. I'm sure he's fine. My observation is that crossbreed progeny tend to come up a bit smaller than both sides of the cross anyway, so he may not turn out to be a huge dog.

Many breeds have webbed feet to some degree, including all our Dogues. Mind you, the amount of time they spend in streams, ponds, puddles, even other people's swimming pools  makes me think they probably need the webbing!
