My guys were fed on it (got through one bag 15kg). It seemed fine. The youngest one went off it after a week or so but the other two were fine on it, I now think that the youngest had a cold as we couldn't really tempt him with much to eat but he is back to eating the Burns Maize range again now with gusto.
I currently feed my two cockers on this for their morning food. it's cheaper than the standard lamb and rice adult formula as no vat but I have examined the ingredients and they are identical apart from the Burns canine alert has green tea extract and grapeseed extract added. I think it smells nicer than the plain lamb and rice somehow
It has a slightly greasier feel to the kibble also. Mine love it and it saves me a couple of quid on a 15kg bag - not much i know but every little helps

We fed ours on Burns for quite a while. It was recommended to us by the puppy trainer we went to. They did really well on it and I have no complaints about it. However, we now make our own dog food as after looking at the ingredients there was nothing in the variety we were feeding that we couldn't do ourselves. Plus I know exactly what they are eating and an extrra bonus is it is much cheaper!
There are pros and cons to every food though and its more important to feed what is right for your dogs. :)

Is this the one for working dogs? VAT free? My pet shop owner persuaded me to change from the ordinary Burns to this one because it had gone up in price so much. I read the blurb carefully and it stated that the ingredients should not cause a hyper dog! Didn't seem a lot of difference in the ingredients. However my dog is worse when she is wound up (especially at agility) then before - she is going crazy at the other dogs and getting so excited that she bursts off around the course without me!!!! - so I am thinking of going back to the old one just to test it.
there is absolutely no difference in the protein and oil percentages. It's vat free as it's for assistance dogs that need more mental alertness not for physically active working dogs that run around a lot.
The only different ingredient is green tea extract and grapeseed extract. That is the ONLY difference between the two. This food is for working dogs that need to be alert hence the food title not for physically active working dogs.
Maybe you have been sold the burns canine active which has higher protein and oil and is also VAT free. Check your bag and it should say on it Burns Canine ALERT not burns canine ACTIVE.
Hope this helps

Thanks - it is Alert that I have. My dog doesn't need more mental alertness though - she is already always ready to get up and go - she needs something to slow her down! :-)
lol it's amazing though that you've noticed a difference in her behaviour - very interesting. my two cockers love their walks but they are still happy to flop round the house an kip when we come home
