Well, after reading that E & L didn't have very good reviews on this forum, I started reading up about them on the WWW. Have now decided that although I've been with them a while, and not claimed, it seems they are vvvveeeerrrrryyyy slow to pay and also customer service does not get a good write up at all, so have now cancelled my policy. I have spent all morning getting quotes and reading up about other companies, and now think that Tesco is probably the best, fairly reasonable monthly payments, good cover for various outcomes, etc, what I am now wondering, how many of you CDers use/have used Tesco, and what is your opinion of them?

Vets told me that tesco are bad also, they are very similar to e & l and dont pay out, stick to a pet insurance company, healthy pets seems a good one.

I'm with Tesco, never had a problem and they paid the vets direct.  Claimed for a cruciate op last year including hydrotherapy and my premium has only increased with inflation i.e. if I go on their website for a quote as a new customer I get the same premium quoted as I paying now, if that makes sense.

hi i am with tesco and have found over nine years they have been very good but my vets have been happy for me to pay the excess and they get paid direct. i have never had a claim that they have not paid but they will ask for vet records as in my case i had a a dog that i had from a freind that could not longer look after him and had to claim within two month for shoulder problems and limp they asked for vet records from previouse owner and paid after all.

i think as in my case that with the more dogs you have it can be best to have some cover that you can aford rather than none, if i had a claim that went over the £4000 i would have to concider my options but so far i am glad that they are all insured.

untill this year my rottie that is nine had not had any claims but this year i have had three and all the years of paying has now out weighed my premiums, i could not say that if i took cover from pet plan.

I dont rate tesco insurance very highly. They are very slow to pay out and often claim to have 'not recieved' the form that had been sent to them. They do take forever to sort the claim! On the plus side they are quite cheap.

Mine are insured with petplan and the other with more than. Petplan have always been fantastic with both my claims and work claims but they are pricey! More than also always been very good and the quickest to deal with. Only problem is so far i only know of petplan that renew the £4000 every year per condition which is great, more than are up to £7000 per cond but once its gone it gone, it is not renewed every year.

Personally, i think petplan are the best all round.

Helathy pets reinstate the amount insured, and ongoing conditions.

Used to be with Argos til their renewal fee went through the roof!!!

mine are with tesco we are on the gold plan. they paid out direct to the vets for my cats operation,was abit of messing about saying forms didnt get to them, but it did get sorted in the end.
mine lot will all be getting changed over to a better insurance with life time cover when i get back to work next feb,i cant afford it just now,but at least i have some sort of cover for them tesco does work out cheaper than quite a few others i was looking at.:-)

Hiya, I had my dog insured tho E and L when the time came to need to claim for my dog to have cataract surgery, I rang them to ask if he would be insured they replied yes go ahead, £75 excess as he was 11 years old, then they would pay 35per cent of the bill up to £1000. I was paying over £20 per month and had done for several years, they infact would b
e paying hardly anything of the cost, taking into account of the premiums I had paid over the year. My vet and other people later told me that they are one of the worst companies to insure with. I cancelled my other 2 policies with them. and now go with pet plan wich isnt the cheapest but most reputable. let this be a warning to you others out there.

I'm with TEsco and have made a claim, no trouble whatsoever, although I have found out that my vet only takes TEsco without payment up front (did not know this before I took out insurance with them) so I would be unaware of any problems.
