.....For auld lange syne, my Jo. ;)

Ooooh every year it hits me at a different time (few days before or few days after New year), prompted by different things, but always a bit of restrospectiveness (usually [unashamedly!] misty eyed nostalgia, granted!)

Anyone else the same..or is it just me 'greetin intea me tea the night?' (;) )

Happily all previous years have been a happy misty eyed review but this year is a little bit of a 'teary' one, We lost 'Tough-as-old-boots-Mitchell' Monday before Christmas she was 98! (really thought she was on for the telegram from Lizzie!)...ooooh she'd be l-i-v-i-d to see me here 'greetin' so I am trying desperately to think of the great Granny moments of which there were many!! The Christmas before last when she decided to announce loudly round the Christmas dinner table that she was a Lesbian (she wasn't..she just got bored!) Her 98th Birthday this year where she taught all the under fives of the family the song "Kilty, kilty..show us your...Knees!" (All the male members of the family had come in their kilts (or should I say arrived??) and for anyone unfamililiar with the Kilty, Kilty song it starts with show us yer knees and gradually ascends (but descends!!) into an altogether more rude area shall we say!

Annyway... giving some insight in to the type of 'lady' Granny was, I was searching tonight for the words to Auld Lange syne, becuase my sister and I when we were young used to giggle at the last verse:

>And there's a hand, my trusty fiere !<
>And gie's a hand o' thine !<
>And we'll tak a right gude-willy waught,<
>For auld lang syne<

I vividly remember Granny's amusement at our giggles and her leaning over and whispering to us " you wuddnee want tae be hoddin a wullie wart wud yea!!??"
Ooooh we'd be in fits!!!

Aaah but the mainstay of my post is actually, that in mulling over the words of Auld lange syne... I got to thinking of all those people that I hadn't seen or spoken to for a while.

So here is my CD role call of much missed:

Charandra (Hayley) Must e~mail her, but miss our 'popcorn' get togethers when the bunfights started in feeding.
Balibee (Ali) ... *waves some coulters caaaandy!*
Munkeemojo (Nic)... and the Curry pups!!
Just Lou (kerry) Our beloved Birthday fairy
LJS (Lucy) Yes I can phone you and FB you...but come back here!!

I wonder what happened to them? Some are in Other Places, of course, and accessible, but others seem to have vanished off the face of the earth. I guess Life (and sometimes sadly Death) gets in the way.

I know what you mean Liv, I sometimes wonder what happened to people who seem to have been here forever and then suddenly disappear.

While we're on the subject, I'd like to raise a glass to 'absent friends', Jazzywoo and Libs, gone but not forgotten.
