Hi,

My 2 1/2 year old bitch Ruby is expecting her first litter of puppies !!!!!!! Oh JOY !!!!!!!!!!

We had a scan today and we're expecting between 6-8 little bundles of mischief. Far more than I expected, but hey ho, she's going to be a GREAT Mum.
my problem is........... She won't eat the food she's supposed to, to nourish her brood growing inside her.

My vet has told me to put her on puppy food and I've tried ALL the top brands easily available to me in my area of Surrey eg; James Wellbeloved, Royal Canine, Eukanuba,& Pro plan. And it's costing me a small fortune to find something she'll actually eat.

Could anybody please give me a diet that she JUST WON'T refuse????????? I have to give her 3/4 of a sachet of worming powder every day with food and it's Oh! so difficult when she walks away and the powder is already in.

Please help I want these puppies, & Ruby to be fit and well after their ordeal of the birth.

Will she eat the food without the worming powder? It could be the smell/taste of the wormer that's putting her off the food. I only use Panacur liquid on pregnant bitches and depending on the weight of the bitch it only needs a small amount so doesn't put them off their food.

With dogs that dont eat, I usually soak their food in water.  Has worked for me so far.

If I've had girls that go off food which is not that untypical for a pregnant bitch then I've roasted some chicken and fed that to her, even had to hand feed at times just to know she has eaten something, once they get into eating again which they do then just mix the yummy chicken in with the complete and see if she'll eat it like that.
