Topic Dog Boards / Health / blood in poo

Hello I have an ESS who every now and again has blood in his poo.  I took him along to the vet a couple of months ago with kennel cough and ever since his stools have been streaked with blood (I thought at first it was Benylin!).  Not happening very frequently now, just now and again (even in soft stools).  Lovely topic, sorry!  Anyone any ideas?

If it is bright blood it is nothing to worry about it is just small capillaries in the rectum that are leaking on the passing of the stool. However if the blood is very dark or tarry then you should speak to the vet.

Don't think there is a problem then, however bear in mind I am not a vet so if you are worried do not hesitate to consult one taking a sample with you.
