Well Robbie my westie puppy is 16 weeks old tomorrow he is doing really well, we were near enough housetrained but this week he seems to be weeing a lot more than normal, most of the time he asks to go out and during the day he doesn't seem to wee an awful lot but in the evenings he keeps asking to go out in the garden and just does dribbles of wee, but then will go in the house aswell, last night he wee'd twice in the living room while we were playing with him and then still went out in the garden and done more, he seems to want to wee every 20-30 mins, the lady at the pup class said that they need to relieve themselves every 2 hours but Robbie goes more than this, does this seem normal to you? I cannot remember what my other dog did as a puppy but i thought at 16 weeks he would have been holding his wee for a bit longer than this.
We just cannot understand why during the day he goes out perhaps every hour or so to wee and after every meal but in the evenings he keeps on wanting to go out and wee, the other night we had company and when they were here he only went out twice in 3 hours!!!

I have a four month old pup that seems to drink and wee for a pastime, yet if confined, say visiting or in the car can hold on perfectly well for a couple of hours yet in the kitchen has been known to pee every 10 minutes (or so it seems).

She doesn't yet ask obviously enough to go out, so I am up and down letting her out at regular intervals, and often find I am too late, though she has been better in last few days, and then has a day or so of being miss piddly pants.

With her it is most often due to playing and getting wound up, tanking up and then sprinkling.

I have also had pups learn to ask out and only pretend to wee or just do a tiny one, all they really wanted was to go outside for a nosey, or better still have the door left open!

Robbie is cean overnight and he goes to bed at 10.30pm and we get up at 7am so he is doing really well, as i said he goes out roughly every hour during the day and does little wee's but in the evenings he seems to keep wanting to go out nearly every 20mins, he does a little wee and then comes back in again and then not long after wants to go out again, if he doesn't get out he wee's in the kitchen area, he doesn't seem to be drinking loads so cannot understand it as it is only in the evenings that he does this.
His pooh he goes out every time to do and is brilliant, i just thought that by 16 weeks he would have been able to hold his wee for longer, what age do they start to hold onto their bladder for a bit longer.
Its strange that when we have visitors he doesn't need to go as often perhaps he is getting fed up with our company in the evenings!!! It does seem when we play with him and he gets excited he forgets to go out to the back door and just does it where he is standing.
Perhaps it is still early days and i am expecting too much thats why i posted on here to see what other pups are up to at this age.

I think they don't have full bladder control until five or 6 months.

My 5 month old puppy can wee for England. Drinks wee's eats poo's, that all he seems to do. I think it doesn't help this time of the year. Its cold to leave the doors open and dark. Just seems worse in the winter. Pups have NO bladder control to well over 3months . Then it takes time and practice. Usally by 8months most are well on there way. When the boys start to cock there legs.
