Hello all
I have a 5yr old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Bitch named Angel. She has lived with other dogs in the past but for the last couple of years she has been the only dog.
My brother has just got a 10 week old male cavalier called Baxter and I took Angel to their house to meet him yesterday.
She was actually scared of him! At first, when he was sleeping she ignored him completely, no sniffing or anything. When he woke up we fed them together and that was fine but she still refused to look at him. Later on, when he was a bit more lively, he tried to say hello but she would just run away and hide under the table! When she finally did stand still long enough to look at him, she growled at him. I thought she'd be jealous of him but she showed no signs of jealousy, she just didnt want anything to do with him.
I really want them to get on as I have already offered to help out with him - dogsitting etc when I'm off work.
I know it's early days yet but any tips on helping them to get on would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

Im not surprised, ive seen this happen alot. She probably doesnt know what to do with it.. When the pup is old enough, take them for short walks together.. ive found this is a great way of strenghthening the bond and making them feel like a little pack... it will probably just take time..
she was also probably acting submissive as she feels she was entering his territory.. and was respecting him as it was 'his patch'.. so meeting in a neutral enviroment is probably best at first.

Well they're going to be meeting again tomorrow at my mums house. Unfortunately I wont be there and she has lived at my mums in the past (when I lived there!) so I'm not sure it's exactly going to count as neutral ground! But as I say, I wont be there so will have to wait until they report back to me!
I think the walk thing is a good idea, I'll have to check with my brother when he's allowed out.
