Manchester has voted no to the congetion charge- commonsense reigns. I work at Christie Hospital in Didsbury and in our dept. staff have fixed hours of 8-4.30. Most come from outside the area (the M60 ring is around 2 miles away) and as NHS wages don't stretch to Didsbury house prices! everyone is very relieved.

Me too Anworth - Stockport's bang on the outer ring, and we get absolutely NO benefits whatsoever. No trams, no upgrading of stations and no better buses.  We voted no so we're soooo glad that most other people did too :)

No benefit for us in the High Peak either and no vote on something that would have affected us directly.  I travel to work by train anyway, but my husband needs his car as he works on more than one site and his journey is complex.

We have several staff who had no say whatsoever yet lived not 5 miles from the M60.
I have children that I drop off on the way to work, I couldn't see any money being made available for the extra staff to enable the breakfast club opening at 6am (not that I think my children should be dragged to school a full 3 hrs before start of school:-( or even for that matter stay a full 4 hrs after school) but financially that would be what would be needed to make it viable for me to continue working as things are very tight at the mo and can't see that changing anytime soon with the present financial climate.

I am based at a hospital in Central Manchester and I would have had to go through both the inner and outer rings.
Last thing I needed with working shifts and doing on-calls... so I for one, am pleased it was rejected.... :-)
