Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / My dogs Milk after weaning pups!

Hello, I wonder if someone could tell me how long is it normally for a mums milk to dry up after weaning her pups?? the pups are 9 weeks old, and fully weaned, but mum still has quite full teats, and swing about when she walks, I am scared in case this might cause her some damage!!! We have just adopted her and her last pup, she wasn't wanted after the pups were sold, so we took the last pup and her as well,
Thank you, from Kerimyth.

I usually find my girls are dry by about 11 weeks after the pups are born.

As for the saggy undercarriage that can take many months to tighten up, and with some bitches never will completely.

Hi Kerimyth,
My friend has owned and bred mini schnauzers for tens of years and she said to give you her phone number and you can have a chat.
She is the rescue for them as well for the midlands so has a wealth of  knowledge to share.
Just tell her your the lady from champ dogs.
You can ring her after 8pm any evening.
Her Name is...Jan Rabin....0212 3780911

Hope this might be of some help

Jonelle

Thank you for your suggestions, at least I now have a time frame for her and know what to expect, I do hope her "undercarriage" does go back, or at least to a stage where it is comfortable for her. Thanks again,
Kerimyth.
