And you can decide on what to call me at the end of this!!!!
Woke up at 7, to look out of the window at a slight covering of snow.
Got ready, complete wth hot flask of coffee for 8.15, which at this point it was snowing more. Nipped to get some fuel and then off to pick a mate up.
8.30 we set off the 35 miles to Melton Agricultural college.
Got there , picked up our numbers and went to get ready, in a freezing cold mobile classroom.
armed in just shorts and long sleeved T shirts, with our oldest trainers, we went for out final wee and lined up at the start. Temperature wasnt much about 4 degrees, but luckily the snow had stopped.
The gun went and we set off. Out of the muddy farmyard we hit the field, Running along with the mud sticking to our shoes, we were about half way up the field. through trees, and more fields. Over a few fences that had hay bales either side to jump on. Up and down banks that were very steep, then through a gate to a POND,  nice black stinking pond. Yes we had to run THROUGH a 30 metre pond!!!! Started off about knee deep, but very quickly ended up waist height :o :o :o :o :o
Came out of that, we couldnt feel our legs, and thought our feet had gone off on their own!!!!!
Took a while to get the feeling back in our legs and feet, by this time we had to run under a funnel made out of hay bales, then out to a tyre shambles, where you had to clamber over them. Out to the fields again a nice long run along the edge of filds collecting mud on our trainers. then got to the Banks. Luckily we managed to get up and down without falling, the guy behind us was not so lucky, skidding down the bank on his bum!!!!!!
Negotiated these bnanks and off again along ploughed fields, then the course to a detour, about 2-400 meters ALONG a river that was just over ankle deep.
We really did loose our feet this time!!!!
We came out of the river and I knew I had stuff in my trainers, but by this time I couldnt feel my feet so it didnt matter. But at least my feet were now clean,
We then headed up a road and onto a bank of newly sown grass along to the end, and slid down the bank. Heading through a quagmire of mud back into the farmyard to the finish, where my sons were waiting with blankets for us both, and we recieved a medal and a Tshirt, mars bar and banana.
10k in 1 hour 12 minutes.
Would I do it again. YES!!!!!!At least it didnt SNOW!!!!!
Lea : :D :D :D

Insane but mighty brave and fitter than me ;)  Am in awe of you though!

Can you feel your feet yet?  Any blisters.

My very limited knowledge but that is a fab time isn't it?

You cannot beat the feeling at the end when you step over the finish line ...... actually yes you can, when you get home, get warmed up, have a hearty meal and a glorious soak in the bath :-)

I've done the marine commando challenge. Once for charity and once under real marine conditions (i.e lots of shouting and hollering) for part of my college course.
At the time it was hard and i was close to hating it - now i think it is brilliant fun and cant wait to do it again!!!! Even the dreaded sheep dip, the crawling through tunnels on your elbows, and the freezing cold water that takes your breath away and numbs your limbs!!

Wow thats really good, sounds wicked!! Did something like that myself at school but didnt have any ponds as such, except a few muddy wet ditches that formed lol! Was great fun!!

Bet you feel so good now though, well done!! :)

I am cold just reading it!!!!!!

To me, makes as much sense as the Polar Bear Swims done on New Years, but whatever floats your boat.

BBRRRRRRRRR (chills run through spine, wants a nice hot shower now......)

Mad, mad, woman - you're perrrrfect for a Terv and I've got three going spare  (literally :-D )
