One of our 7 week old pups has an ulcer in his eye.  We took him to the vets two weeks ago when we noticed his eye was cloudy, like he had a cataract or glaucoma.  He was diagnosed with an ulcer, probably caused by a stray claw or tooth poking him in the eye, the vet said.  He has been on antibiotic eye drops but it is still evident there is a problem with his eye.  It isn't as cloudy as it was but he still can't open it as wide as the other and you can see something on the lens.  The vet says it will take time, but how much time?  I am not happy to let him go to his new home the way he is, I want to make sure he is 100%.

Has anyone come accross this before and how long did it take to heal?

I've seen it two or three times in older dogs, Boxers in my case. One it healed with drops but twice the lid was sewn shut to protect it and allow healing. Think it took a couple of weeks to heal

sorry to hear about your poor pups eye, our Boston has always got eye problems, luckily eye infections she has only had one ulcer and luckily that went within a week of treatment, but one of our boxers sadly had a eye ulcer for nearly 6 months, what drops has the vet given him, maybe ask for a different one, i found the more liquid drops easier to give but the antibiotic ointment Fuchithalmic stays in the eye longer, is the mum or any of the other pups licking around his eye after putting the drops in as dogs are drawn to strange smells this might be prolonging the ulcer healing. Has the vet said it is reducing in size if so at least you know you are going in the right direction good luck with him.
