Having to head up to Goring upon Thames in a few weeks for some physio for a couple of weeks. A friend has said she should be able to look after my dog while i am away.
Just in case i was wondering if anyone knew of a very good boarding kennel near to Goring upon Thames or Henley upon Thames area.. If they have websites then links would also be helpful and anyone who has had their dog stay there with good reports also would help.
I would like my dog to be walked twice a day and not have to pay extra for him to be walked(know some kennels charge for this). Also for the kennels to have indoor/outdoor run and be large enough for a Bernese(again know some very small ones which would not surfice).
The kennel need to be able to deal with his raw food diet and feed this if i take the food along. Have the contained space for him to be walked off lead as well and walked with other dogs at the kennel.
Thanks

Anyone at all?? There must be people who live near there who have recommendations??
http://www.charneykennels.co.uk/This is where I have happily left mine in the past because of their terrific canine knowledge and common sense, but I'm not sure that they will fit your needs but you could talk to them about your requirements. :)

Thanks.. I thought it may be easier to leave my dog in kennels where i am due to stay, rather than near where i live.
I have a show on the weekend which is in Slough and it would be easier to take a dog to a kennel afterwards than go home and come back again.
Westcoast - That kennel is just a tad too far from where i would need it to be. Would be easier for me to go home.. Lol.. They do what i require also, but the kennels imo from the website don't look great. I am looking for something a little bit more up market and a larger kennel.
Unfortunately the website only shows a corridor, not one of the brilliant kennels, which are large, tiled to waist height for hygiene and have their own radiator. They also understand show dogs, being breeders and exhibitors of top winning Japanese Spitz. Their expertise is canine rather than web based! ;) :)
Hope that you find something that suits you.
Give me til this evening and I'll check out who uses kennels in this area (I'm a 5 miles from Goring max)
I don't put my dogs in kennels so can't give a personal reccommendation.
There is one chap near here that have the dogs live in as they would at home, he's expensive but lots of people like him.
I'll go through the local 'gossip' for you as I'm sure he used to advertise in there.

Westcoast - i did read about their award winning Spitz and i was more engrossed in reading about them. Way to go for BOB at crufts!!! Its one of those cases that if i did use a kennel i wouldn't get a chance to look at it(shame) first. I am looking at somewhere that also has a good website and very good reviews as well for large dogs.
Boxacrazy - Thanks, if its a kennel without a cattery, this would also be preferred. A smaller kennel which takes less dogs again is a preference, more time spent with the dogs and a large area to walk the dogs.
My ideal would be one with no more than 10 dogs at a time. There is one in Worcester called Lucy's Hotel and another one like it in Devon which look fab. Though not in the area i require.
If you think Dogs Trust - their kennels are what i am looking for
You don't have a 'My Pet Stop' near you do you? I know there are some oop North here and they have kennels as you described. Have no personal experience so cannot comment if they are actually any good though - sorry.
