Hi

Have you tried SAS, I thought they flew in to Heathrow.

Hope that helps.

British Airways takes dogs, at least they used to and I've flown them from Helsinki to Heathrow.

How about your local flying club?
Collecting my first puppy from UK mainland we managed to come to an arrangement with a private pilot.
Local airfield to local airfield.

That can't be done internationally. Only certain airports can be used.

Oops forgot Ireland isn't Northern Ireland.....

The dog's coming from Finland - ideally ginastarr would like a direct flight to Eire, I think.

I'm watching this with interest - hopefully my little boy will be coming over from Helsinki to UK in June.  Fingers crossed for the post rabies jab blood test.

My OH recently took a Setter pup from Heathrow to Helsinki - it was a Finnair flight

On Pets you can only fly approved routes and from Helsinki it is Heathrow I'm afraid.  If you go on the DEFRA website it will give you the approved carriers one of which is Finnair, which I used in 2006 to fly myself and a bitch to Finland and back.

Might be worth contacting the Irish equivalent to see if they have any approved routes with Finland with pet passport.

Help

the only flight i can find helsinki to dublin stops in sweden first so that is no use to us , and aerlingus do not take dogs on european routes .

my pup can fly on 28th may . and the euro winners is that weekend so the sooner he is in the better because we want him settled first , he will be accompanied by his breeder and she is showing him at the two shows - euro winners and tt club show :-)

i went on the department of agriculture site - pet passport section and the only approved routes they have are bahrain to dublin , warshaw to dublin , i emailed them directly and they said they did not know of any direct flights helsinki to dublin

Help

You will have to do an approved route to UK which is Helsinki to Heathrow (manifested cargo is the only accepotable way), ( I took my bitch there as Excess baggage, and back as Cargo in 2006), and then travel from UK to Ireland.

hi barbara
what airline did you use , and what do i need to book beforehand , as if he was to travel direct to ireland i had to contact dept of agriculture and then lissenhall . which would collect him from airport

any advice greatly appreciated

You'd have to go approved route which is Helsinki Heathrow (unless there asre new ones).

You have to book the specific flight as they only allow two animals per flight.  I do beleive you may now have to use a registered agent rather than do the cargo importaion part yoruself like I did.

can you recommend an agent ,
