What could I add to my aussie's puppy meals to fill him up as I have to watch how much I feed him as he puts on weight on.

Cooked veg? Raw carrots?

How old is your puppy?  They grow so fast that you would expect them to be putting weight on - that's rather the point :)

Some pups give the impression they are half starved and can be quite good at the 'feed me - feed me' look.  However if your puppy is still on 4 or perhaps 3 meals a day of quality food then that should be sufficient.

Can you check with the breeder?  Did he/she keep a puppy from the same litter?  Although litter mates may be different it could give you a rough guide.  Also have a look at the output, my breeder says this gives you an indication if you are feeding too much or too little.  I'm sure someone will be along soon to tell you exactly what puppy poo should look like - we have experts on here!! :)

He is 8 months old and is on Arden Grange large breed adult and a small amount of raw tripe they mature at 24 months and because of the heavy bone need to grow slowly and that is also why I need to watch the weight. At the moment he has cooked veg but would like to change it from time to time

Is he telling you he's starving?  I love that look - mine used to look at the contents of his bowl then look at me with an 'is that all?' expression!  Mind you he's currently on hunger strike - says he's waaaay to busy to waste time eating...

I feed AG too and don't bother much with extras although I give raw veg rather than cooked.  Both of mine love carrots and I give them whole, like bones, although I do chuck some of the peelings in their bowls when I have them.  They also like broccoli stalks (although not the flowers/florets).  Someone on here recently said pumpkin is very good for dogs and supermarkets are still selling these off quite cheaply.

Another trick I used to try with my youngster was to presoak half his complete food before feeding.  This increases the volume and made him think he was getting more food.  It slowed him down too as he went through a stage of inhaling rather than chewing :)

Hope this helps

Can you give dogs broccoli? He dosen't like raw carrots just chews them up and make a mess with them. I will try soaking his food but he is only on 91gms twice a day.

thanks for your help.

Mine LOVES broccoli, green beans and swede best.  I give him spinach now and again and generally if there is veg left over from anything I have cooked he gets that too.  He used to like carrots but now just chews them up and spits them out :)
Fruit wise he likes pear, apple (pips removed) and the odd bit of banana.

I feed my EBT for his first year on puppy JWB with tripe from the pet shop. Frozen blocks you just defrost and give raw- my sister told me that her Weim breeder from Germany did this and sets dogs up for life and I completely agree-
