can i find out directly from the b.v.a if they have actually returned my dogs hip and elbow scores to my vets? i was made to beileve that once the panel had scored them and the cheque had cleared they would send them straight away, the cheque has been cleared for a while now and i still dont have the results, all i get from my vets is another two weeks ....another two weeks, i am at the end of my tether now considering i got my dog scored on 27th august over 10 weeks now, last monday i was promised definately by the end of the week today i phoned yet again there not back yet you shall have to wait another two weeks, is there anything i can do about this as i have lost faith in my vets. thanks in advance for any advice you may have.

Once the panel score them, they do foward them to the vets within a matter of days. 10 weeks is an awful long time to wait - have the vets called the BVA themselves to check what the delay is? I would think you would be able to phone the BVA yourself to check if they have been scored and forwarded to the vets. You will need your dogs KC number to hand when you call.

Our two were done on 24th August, we had the results well over a month ago.
email the BVA and ask when they were scored and returned to your vet. I did this the week after I had my bitch xrayed - we always want them back asap don't we? They were able to give me dates they were due to be looked at, when they would be posted to my vet etc. Took under 4 weeks in all.

jaybrook, thats what i thought, i have not been able to talk to the vet as she is always to busy to come to the phone, umm! all i have spoken to is the receptionist and the only information she can give me is there not back yet, we had them done on 27th aug apparently they never sent them away until the 1st of october as they mislaid them or forgot about them what ever, so we lost a whole 5 weeks there the vet was suppose to have personally sent these with a note explaining it was there fault and could they be done a.s.a.p she then told me as they only do them once a week i may have to wait a couple of weeks to get them back and from the 1st october thats all i have had and that was 5 weeks ago and this morning they say i have to wait another two weeks i have lost trust and faith in them, i have just phoned again as i want to know what has happened and that they have not again just been dumped in a draw and forgoten about the receptionist put some music on and went to find the vet after a couple of minutes the phone was put down, i am fuming good job i was not intending to breed my girl her season has been and gone, the thing is they dont know that. i shall definately be getting in touch with the b.v.a horrible thought but gut instinct and the unprofesionalism towards us as clients tells me they still have not sent them off, these scores must have cost me in the region of £450.00 and they have had most of since 27/8/08.i shant be using that vets again.

cocopop,i think in the past the longest we have ever waited was five weeks and the head partner could not apologise enough, for the delay.this other vet is new to us as we have recently moved it made sence to get something a little closer, back to the drawing board for another vet.

ells bells.i am going to e mail them now thats the time scale we were given originally 3-4 weeks.
Molly, I've just called the BVA about mine, ring this number: 020 7908 6380
If you give them your KC Reg number they will tell you when it was scored and when they posted the info to your vets.
FYI - my scan was Friday 26th Sept, it was scored on Wednesday of this week and posted to the vets yesterday (just waiting on RM then!:) )

thanks for everones help and advice.

They sit once a month for scoring so if yours got there just after, then they may still be waiting if they weren't sent until 1st October. When I had one of my boys done it was a 6 week wait so its feasible that they haven't been returned yet but def ring and check. I used to work in a vets and the BVA are very helpful

my vet informed me that they sit once a week, that makes it worse, i remember with some of my older dogs it was a sitting once a month, hopefully they have not been lost, i shall get in touch with the b.v.a as i shall probably get more help from them than my vets i am still awaiting for a return call from the vet now, just so unprofesional in my eyes,if my vet had been in touch with the b.v.a surely they would have told her when they had done them or a rough idea of when they would be doing them? i dont know anymore thank you for your reply anyway.

i had pagan elbow and hips done on the august the 3rd only got the result back for the elbow last week hips are were being done wednesday.
i rang the BVA to ask why my cheque been cash and no results.
the first problem was the vet but the wrong date on.the paper work.
the second problem was the x ray plate where done on a high digtal machine and the BVA dose done accept some didtal films,so the vet had to send them off again rearrange the the quailty of film and a letter to go with the plates. beacuse the BVA system cannot copy with the high digtal flim so the BVA are still in the stoneage with the way they work,
so you should ask your vet if the plate where done on a digtal x ray machine that could be a reason way you not heard back
i will say the girls at the BVA where great and help sort of the problems and tell why.
pss got to say my vet was great keeping up to date

Have you given the kc a call to see if they have received a copy of your dogs hip score result and updated your dogs records on there database
> if my vet had been in touch with the b.v.a surely they would have told her when they had done them or a rough idea of when they would be doing them?
Yep. I've phoned them on behalf of a client, and they were able to tell me that they were there, when they were getting scored (in this case the next day) and when they would be posting them out. I would have thought that your vets would have been a bit more helpful after the shambles they made of it in the begnning!

briedog, yes i think it was a digital machine that took the x rays,we had to fill in the forms ourselves including parents and grandparents pedigree names and k.c numbers dated and signed, so we did the paperwork and the vet went over it we have never had to do that before,
Hi Molly
If your dog is KC registered you can go online and look at your dogs health history by this I mean you have to entre either a stud number or KC reg number and the tests that the vets have done should be acessable on the site. I have looked at my dogs results on the site this way it gives their hip and eye score and any other health check results that were done with reg.vets so they may already be on there even though you have not yet officially received them. The trouble is I cant remember exactly how I navigated myself through the KC site to get there, it might be worth a try though. Hope this is of some help.

You need to have a Kennel name & register for online services & then your dogs show up(useful for getting KC reg numbers)& if you click on transfers a menu at the top of the page with a Health Scheme link comes up click on that & it takes you to a search box put your dogs KC reg number in the box & the health tests results come up

i bet the problem was the digital flim, and the BVA would accpet it,
ask the vet if that problem,
the bva would have send back the plates to vet staging the problem with the paper work to.
then the vet would have to change the flim and send it back again.
then the flim will sitting waiting to be score .
mine were done on wednesday just waiting for the results i will in the vet on monday.

Hi can anyone tell me how to resister with the kennel club for online services please?
I can,t seem to find the correct link.

That is a very obscure way of finding it out surely. I would never think to look under transfer ad obviously I am not transferring ownership of my dogs?????
The Kennel club site must be one of the least user friendly ones I know.
I tried finding the new General code of ethics and put code of ethics in their search and got nothing.

How odd!
This is what I got after typing code of ethics into the search box: the Code of Ethics is the first link.

i could not get on to any of the links either i got all the information on the procedures of hip and elbow testing, litter regestrations and transfer of ownerships, but no actual health test results or hip or elbow scores came up.

If you are registered for online services it is simple log in, click on the transfer click, then at the top of the webpage there are links & one is for health(first on the left) click on that & then input your dogs KC reg number or stud book number & the health test results come up
