A few weeks ago I asked for advise for my sister and her new rescue collie.
The collie was frightened by reflections and was attacking all the mirrored wardrobe doors, tv, cooker etc etc.

I was given quite a bit of advise my sister was very appreciative.

I thought the solution sis came up with may come in useful to some one else.

My sister covered all the mirrored doors, glass and windows with windolene, (the old fashioned stuff that when left dries to a white film). Then over the last couple of weeks she has gradually removed it bit by bit. From the top downwards. Item by item. The collie is now able to see her reflections and seems to have overcome her anxiety. Sis palns to remove the last remaining film tomorrow.
The collie has settled down beautifully she met my dogs today for the first time. No problems at all.

I like the smell of windolene and to have fabulously clean windows at the end of the task is 2 jobs in one!

What a clever idea,and fair play to your sis for taking on a rescue Collie, there are always loads of them. We have one and it's very rewarding when after all the hard work they finally settle.

We grew up with Collies.
We have had a variety of breeds over the years but between us there will  always be a collie as well.
I had a rescue collie myself,  he was almost 17 when we said goodbye. Yes you are right it is rewarding when you see that something click and they become yours and settle. One of my current dogs is a rescue, he was a sad little chap but now an absolute wonder.

well done to your sis for comming up with such a good idea, it's great that the collie has overcome her fear so quickly :)

Just spoken to sis she has put windowlene back on the bottom half of wardrobe doors. For some reason these are still un nerving the collie but no where near to the same extent. She is just going to leave the wardrobes for a big longer.She is ok with TV etc now. At least we know it will work in time. She has only been there for four weeks so still very early days.

That is early days, our rescue dog (sadly passed away :( ) took at least 6 months to really 'find his feet' with us.
