Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Canine Reproduction Centre in South West?
- By ridgielover Date 27.10.08 09:54 UTC
Just wondering if anyone - apart from me! - would be interested in this.

My vet - whose specialism is canine reproduction - has just set up a new practice and I was talking to her about the need for such a centre in this part of the world.  If I want to have semen stored etc, I have to trail all the way to Liverpool, Cambridge or Leeds - not exactly convenient from Devon.

Would anyone else be likely to use such a facility?

i already use one...ok its a bit of a trip to malvern but not a major one :)

Oh - I didn't know there was one at Malvern!  Could you let me know some details, Sam?

I'd imagine Sam is referring to HERE :)  I use their Edinburgh facility (Britbreed) and have several friends who've used their other ones.

They're excellent :)

Are they there all the time, Sam, or do they just come down this way to visit?

That is still a long way fro those in the far South West, it would be quite far just from Bristol.

I think that Overhill kennel in
Bristol is  now involved  in canine reproduction

Just had a quick look at their website - no mention of canine reproduction, but might give them a buzz later after my chores.

i can get to malvern in 2 hours....you just get used to the long distances living down here! However they do ocassionally have sessions at South Molton which is less than an hour away :)

I was just wondering if there were other people down this way who would be happy to avoid having to travelling so far :)  My vet is based in Exmouth which is a lot more convenient than Malvern, Bristol or even South Molton for me anyway :) :)  But she's not going to go to the expense of setting up if there's not going to be a market - and who can blame her.

depends on whether they have ai facilities.....collection experience, storage facilities and lab and evaluation expertise!!
