Foo / Cats/kittens suckling on each other's fur - help!
Does anyone have experience of this or know how to stop it? I can't put something nasty tasting on their fur as they need to groom themselves.
They are 6 months old and when they cuddle up to sleep and purr, they sometimes do this. At least once a day. And for long enough that their tummies get soaked.
They were reared by mum and we got them at 9 or 10 weeks old.

Unfortunately this often happens when kittens are taken too early from their mothers -kittens need to stay for at least 13 weeks and will normally suckle their mother for up to 16 weeks given half a chance. There isn't really a lot you can do -they may grow out of it, they may not.
I have never come across it before in my own or friends' cats, unfortunately non-pedigrees do tend to be rehomed much younger than 13 weeks.
They are half siamese and I think that breed is a bit prone to sucking fur and wool.
Sounds like there is nothing I can do about it then.

Half Siamese -yes indeed! My ex husband's first Siamese was terrible for wool eating, he could never wear knitted jumpers as if the cat sat on his lap he'd instantly chew a hole in the jumper! LOL.
Blimey! So if I start finding holes in things I should suspect the cats first rather than mice :-D

I brought my Devon Rex home at 13 weeks and for the 1st year he would cuddle in (mainly at night) and suck my skin or clothes. Very strange but quite cute the only problem was that your clothes would be absolutely soaking! I even got a video of it on my phone to remind me what he was like.
Gradually over time he wouldn't do this so much and at 3 yrs old he doesn't do it at all. He did also try to suckle off of the other cats at home...even the boy.
Thanks Staff, this happens mainly at night with my three too, they even try it on our two male dogs (not a good idea with one, who is a bit grumpy!) Anyway fingers crossed they will grow out of it as they grow up.
