Topic Dog Boards / Health / Poodle: redness round eyes and mouth?
- By Star [in] Date 22.10.08 07:45 UTC
My daughters poodle has developed some redness around her eye (inside eye seems ok) and a little bit at corner of mouth. A little bit of it looks like might be a bite or very small lump but not totally convinced. More generalised redness. She is well in herself and nothing anywhere else in body. She may take her to the vets this afternoon if it is still there but juts wondered if anyone had any thoghts. I have never seen this before in my own dogs
Thanks

Could it be an allergic reaction?  Is it just redness or is it swollen too?

She could be just hot - blood comes to the surface to cool down (hence why I look like a beetroot after exercise).

Not sure. It is not swollen except perhaps very slightly raised .but then no where else so would not have thought allergy. Her eyes itself are fine. Quite puzzling really

It does sound like a mild reaction - those types of allergic reactions are almost immediate so it would be something she's eaten.  My OH's lips swell if he eats cashew nuts, it's not a severe reaction so does not result in anaphylactic shock, but the same bits are involved just to a lesser degree.
