I doubt very much that you would be able to cliam, I'm sure the liabilty cover is for third parties and as the policy is in your name (on behalf of your dog) you aren't a third party. Check your policy very carefully, you may be required to notify them that your dog has injured somebody (you), if you need to tell them and don't it could render your policy void.
Just to put a twist on this I was once bit by one of my dogs. He didn't mean to another dog was coming at him at the time, I had hold of my dog and he heard the other one behind coming to attack so he swung round to get the other dog and unfortunately got my arm instead. Pure accident by a dog that would never hurt a fly and especially not a person and he actually would get away from a dog fight rather than get involved.
I definitely doubt you would get anything and be able to claim.
If you are employed you will be entitled to sick pay. Are you self employed? If so, you will only receive payments if you have purchased a sickness and accident cover (if that's the case the fact that it was your dog that bit you is irrelevant). I don't believe you can claim against your dog insurance unless the insurance is in another name.
thankyou for all yourreplies, it was one of my own dogs that bite me. totally by accident. as soon as she realised she let go, then went and wet herself. the reason i will be of work for a couple of weeks is that she damaged two fingers and had to have surgery to repair nerve damage. thanks again
