I was really sad to read this today. :(  What a terrible shame.  I know I keep saying it, but life can be very cruel.

Isn't it sad?  Apparently, she starts Chemotherapy next week so let's hope that the treatement is as successful for her as it has been for lots of others!

I'm sad to read this too. My dear Grandma has cancer too which is now in all her bones and it is so terribly sad, though she is much older than Wendy Richards.

Sorry to hear about your Grandma, Honeybee.

Oh thankyou Oldilocks. I adore my Gramdma, she is an incredible person and a wonderful role model for me, I am just lucky to have had her in my life for so long and I treasure whatever time we have left together.

That is a lovely thing to say, just make sure that you tell her too!  :)

Honeybee, you have made me cry, (really) my Gran was like my best friend, our Grans are so important.  So sorry, and make the most of your time left together.

Very sad for Wendy Richards and her family too, I met her once she is such a lovely person nothing like the old misery guts she used to portray, it would have been nice for her to have done some things to show that side of her and not be remembered as Pauline Fowler, I guess we shall always have, Are You Being Served.

So very sad for all concerned, I hope that she will still have a few years yet, and that the chemo will help, cancer in the bones can be very fast though, let's keep our fingers crossed.

Carrington, I am sorry to make you cry. You obviously were so close to your Gran too, Grandparents are such a blessing. I do tell my Grandma I love her all the time and that I am proud if people say I am like her. Some years ago she gave me a little book of 'Granddaughter' verses some of which she underlined for me to pay attention to, the last one in the book she particularly marked called 'Hopes for your Future' and I'll share a little of it as I find it touching -
'Take with you into your future all my love. All the things we have seen together, all the music we have heard, all the people we have met and loved, all the secrets, all the gigglings, all the mischiefs we have made. I'll come as far as I'm allowed along your road - and when we part you'll take with you my hopes and half my heart.'

I'm also thinking of Wendy Richards and her family, I do hope the treatment helps her and thinking of others who have lost their loved ones like this.

Honeybee I am so sorry to hear about your Grandma...I lost my lovely Grandma to cancer, nearly 7 years ago now but I still think of her a lot, and wish she was still a part of my life. Grandmas are wonderful, my OH is so close to his who is sadly in a home suffering from dementia :-( Getting old and ill is such a horrid part of life isn't it.

Really sad to hear about Wendy Richards too. She is a dog lover as well you know, she has always had Cairn Terriers and her first one was named after her character Shirley Brahms :-)

Thank goodness there is ongoing research and disoveries being made to beat this horrible disease.
- By Freds Mum [gb] Date 08.10.08 12:35 UTC
I think if i was Wendy Richards i would b enjoying my time left and not bother with the chemo.
