Can anyone help? I raw feed and all my girls love it. My question is, I have just had one of my girls mated and if she is in whelp would I need to add any vitamins or anything else to her food or should I change to a puppy food later, nearer to whelping.
Any help please.

Well I fed my girl raw one day and then a good quality puppy food the next.  I also used to feed her eggs, cheese, cottage cheese and fish.  She loved it and all the pups are a good weight and my girl looks really well with a fantastic shiney coat.

Ii would join Brit barf to and ask the question there. They are full of raw feeding knowledge or you could try this link Ann ridyard has written a very good book on the subject (raw feeding) and although her breed is gsd I am sure she will beable to advise you

http://www.freewebs.com/krisannriorawfeeding/ Very good information generally on her site and she breeds.

I feed my girls raw all the time, but add extra raw egg and cottage cheese and make sure they get varied types of raw food which also includes spinach and watercress . I also give them raspberry leaf tablets from 6 weeks gestation. I don't increase their food until they are 6 weeks either. Good luck with your girl.

Molly has just (well 4 months ago) had a litter and she is raw fed but she actually went off her food during whelp :( all she would eat raw was fish!!! (I had visions of pups being born with gils - as it is they all are mega obsessed with water ha ha) I didn't add any extra supplements although she did have puppy kibble (which she loved) for about 4 ? weeks before birth. I also had a supply of calcium for after the whelp. As soon as the pups were born she went straight back on her raw diet without a second thought!
Good luck, hope all goes well :)
