Topic Dog Boards / General / Clippers-which to buy.

Hello all, I want to buy a good set of clippers and after having bought, now 3 sets of cheap ones, I realise I have to spend to get quality!
I really would like some sound advice on which to buy, as looking around I just have no idea.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Aesculap!!  I waited 30 years before a bought a set and I wish I had got them much sooner : )  The clippers are around £200 but its the blades that seem to be dearer than other makes around £50 each but sooooooo worth it!

A lot depends on what you are clipping, and how much use.  My favourites are the Laube Mini Micros, as I have smallish hands, they are lightweight but very durable and keep on going without heating up. I also like the fact they have a transformer so are 12V at the end you hold!  In principal cordless are great, but I find them much too heavy, as you have the clipper body plus the battery pack.  However I do have a lovley set of "Babyliss" rechargeables, with an adjustable ceramic blade for puppy clips and tidy ups at shows.

I have Andis twin speed the burgundy ones and love them..........I have had Oster twin speed and Aesculap but find that Andis go thru the Spanish Water dog coat better than them....

I had been told not to get cordless as the chrage wouldnt last and be strong enough for clipping a full coat off, so depends what you are going to be clipping off, if its just for trims and bits of coat, cordless may be OK.....

Moser Max are £102 on Diamond Edge.   I use Moser Rex and they are good as well, but the cheaper version.

Oh I'll go look as they were half price during the week. that is a shame.  I'll find them somewhere cheap for you :-D

http://www.pet-supermarket.co.uk/erol.html#1X0  they have then for £94.99  free shipping.

that was a shame you missed them as they were half price last week as I bought a pair as a spare pair.

I have had about 6 different types but love these as so light and don't vibrate too much.

I use Andis twin speed, I trim for a living, and there the best clippers I've had, so light and noise free, just great!!!
At £120 a new pair, you cant go far wrong.
