Can anyone recommend a particular brand or type of harness/safety belt?  There seem to be quite a lot of different ones on the market so a bit of a minefield :)

Thanks in advance,

Teri

I use this one - has served me well. No problems with it (fortunately no accidents either - touch wood!).

I have the ancol one which has wide straps and looks very comfortable.  I also have the PAH own brand one which I don't like as a car harness but unlike some car harneses it can also be used as a normal walking harness.  I have both because on one occasion I needed to take two dogs in my boyfriends little car.  Normally we only take one at a time and use the Ancol. :)  The Ancol one also has abit more lengh in it between harness and seatbelt allowing more movement for a dog, depending on the dog depends on if this is a good or bad thing!

Thanks girls  :)

good to get some info on what others have found to (hopefully) do the job (as in heaven forbid we have a prang or worse!).

kind regards,
Teri

I have the Rac harness . Works fine, broad straps for comfortable fit and doesn't fit too near to under the armpits. The only downside is that when used for walking there is the seat belt flap which some people do complain about. I'm not bothered by it though, and I suppose you could tuck it under if you didn't want to see it!

Thanks for that :)

I'm not bothered about using it for walking - just as a safety belt when I'm taking more dogs than fit in the car cages.
(TBH I'm thinking my youngster in a harness would mean me needing to take up hang gliding

Being fit for purpose and comfortable for the dog to wear are the most important issues.

The one I use seems comfortable - its chest strap is padded, and it gives sufficient wiggle room for when His Lordship decides that he needs to turn round and round to get in a more comfortable position. ;-)
