I have recently brought my shih tzu puppy from a local breeder who has brought up many shih tzu's herself. Before we put a deposit on her the breeder told us that when she is teething, because she has a flatter face, it will cause her to make a snorting sound and there is clear bubbly discharge that will appear by her nose, she took her to be vet checked and was given the all clear before we brought her home. Upon taking her to the same vets (a vet we used for our previous dog, who we already had doubts about) the vet refused to give her the vacination she was booked to have because she said she didn't like the snorting, she had to check her file to see what breed she was and then went on later to say 'i've seen a lot of shih tzu puppies and I've never seen this before' well if she has seen them how can she not recognise one.. :S... Well she has taken a swab from our puppy's nose and sent it off, which she charged us for. We're feeling confused as what she has said and the breeder is different and looking on a website about shih tzu puppies it completely reinforced what the breeder said and explains our little puppy to a T. I was wondering if anyone knew anymore about it, because we feel our vet is taking the mick.
Thanks. X
Sorry for the long post.

cant help on this one. no experience with this breed.
wait and see what the vets do about the swabs, and what results come back.
if there are obvious problems with this breed, as the breeder has mentioned to you.
Have you told the vet this, and made them aware of what your breeder has told you.
maybe that would help the vet to help pup.
just a thought
hope you get it sorted.
