I just have to tell people who will understand just how I feel.....
I have just got back with the latest two Cavs of mine from having them MRI scanned as screening for Syringomyelia.
You may remember 'That programme' implied that just about all Cavs have this nasty ailment and that a huge percentage will be in agony. Well I'm delighted to say that they appear to be absolutely clear of the condition and now just await Prof Skerrett's grading.
The anxiety that consumes me before the scan and the relief that floods over, when it's all ok, is exhausting.
I'm sure puppy farming is much less taxing. Not to mention a darn sight cheaper.
There..... I feel better now :-)
my OH understands but doesn't really 'understand' if you know what I mean. BUT I know you will.

Excellent News, did you go to Chestergates? Geoff S is very very good & explains things really clearly
You may remember 'That programme' implied that just about all Cavs have this nasty ailment and that a huge percentage will be in agonyNow whilst I feel that people should be doing the right thing just as you have done. I know of someone who did all the heart checking of lines before buying her dog as a pet. Just wanted a healthy pet dog. At about a year of age she noticed that the dog seemed to be trying to scratch but always missed his neck and did a bit of a whine. Took him to the Vets and was referred for the MRI. He has the condition but it is being controlled with tablets and he just needs a check up once a year. So, hopefully having caught it quickly the condition has been controlled. Might add to this though that when talking to the breeder she was told. 'Never heard of it and not in my line!!!!!'
Oh must add, congratulations on your results and well done for doing the right thing.

No I use Wey referrals. (Susan N. Fitzmaurice BVSc MRCVS DipACVIM(Neurology) DipECVN MRCVS
American & European Specialist in Veterinary Neurology)
I find them excellent too. I came away with films of several sections of both dogs brains, together with a disc for myself and one for my own vet.
And a much lighter heart :-)

> a deep fried Mars bar since it's a special occasion

you know I've NEVER seen anyone eat one - in fact I don't even know of any chippies that sell them LOL. Must admit, sweet tooth or not I don't think I could be tempted :-D

Ahhh so pleased for you!!
I'm just awaiting friends hipscore on their dog that I bred, the wait for that is driving me round the bend and think it'll be about another 3 weeks or so before they get them!

Brilliant - I'm so pleased for you! :-)
I know what you mean about your hubby not understanding about dog related things - mine thinks I'm a bit loopy when I get excited if our breed has done well at a show...he tries to sound enthusiastic but I can tell he couldn't really care less ;-) Still I suppose I have to do the same with rugby :-)
