I wasn't entirely sure where to put this but it's related to health checks?!
Someone I know recently recommended for dog inspections one of those torches that you wear on your head! She doesn't have anyone to hold the dog and finds a hands free torch really helpful for nail clipping (easier to see the quick) and for ear inspections. I've just read a reply from Teri on another thread about needing to have a good look around a dogs mouth and this seems another good use for one.
Does anyone on here already have one? What would you recommend? There seem to be a lot of options but I'm assuming I don't need one suitable for pot-holing!! Although it would be helpful to use it walking at night I'd also be a bit concerned about the dogs eyes - I'm forever telling the kids not to shine torches in each others faces so I don't really want to blind my boys either :)
Any suggestions?

Well that's my link not worth posting then :-D
Good idea though - black nails in my breed and none too easy to find the quick through all the blood (kidding!!!!!)

Head torches are fairly cheap from outdoor type shops like Blacks. :-)
They are available in Argos .
My kids have them for reading in bed when they are supposed to be asleep !!!!

With the black nails, I dont use any light or anything to cut them. Just where they start to curve, thats where I cut. I have only got the quicks a few times.

I have been known to be walking in the forestry commision after dark wearing a head torch - disowned by all who know me I might add.
Mine came from Woolworths and has 6 LED bulbs - 2 for low intensity, 4 for medium and 6 being suitable for lamping :)

I have one, I use it for ear plucking :-D and all sorts (mouths, teeth) I bought it for a few pounds in Morrisons Garage :-) OH uses it for looking inside violins and checking for cracks etc. Not sure how many LEDs but 3 different settings and it can be angled in various ways ;)

Oh what agreat idea.
*goes and digs out very fashionable head light!*
My boyfriend's Dad brought him one for some reason so it's been sitting around doing nothing...

I've been known to wear a head torch on top of woolly hat to enable me to see in the dark when out with the dogs :)
(just a good job that no-one can see me !)

us to. thankfully my lads wear down quite well so don't need it to often. some dogs its far to easy to catch a quick though :(

Not forgetting that all inportant Magnifying glass too... Got mine from marks & spencer last christmas.:)

I know this post has a practical side to it, but it just made me laugh reading alll the differnet uses for a head toch and picturing you all cutting toenails peering down ears etc and loved the one of the kids reading in bed when they arn't supposed to.wearing head torches.
Wondered about putting one on my dog when we go out for a night walk !!

Our local Netto's are selling this cheaply next week!
