Was it the dogs who complained? or the owners? :-D :-D :-D

I'd only worry if it was the dogs who complained about the smell ;) :-D

Nature Diet have changed all their recipes recently haven't they because of so many customer complaints of smell in the tripe based products...!

Funnily enough when I was up at the slaughter house this morning I was chatting with one of the butchers and he was saying "One of them fancy Sevenoaks Nummy mummys" (Im not sure if he meant yummy!!??) "came in the shop with a beef joint saying she couldnt have it and was bringing it back as it was dripping with too much blood"

!!??:-D

I have a less-than-fragrant Chow X Rottweiler today.  Who can I complain to? :-D

Lola, I'm sure she led him astray.

My OH always complains about the stench on tripe night.

Nope...she is entirely guilt free on this (rare) occasion. She managed to stay clean and (almost) dry.  I am trying to convince myself thay it was 'only' fox poo that Shay had liberally applied but I have a feeling it may have been more human

I've just come home to the smell of raw offal (OH had picked up a heart and a liver from the butcher today and was portioning them up)...It's fair put me off my tea, I can tell you *bleurgh*

try wet dog in the car on a warm day!!
after watering trainning it takes a few days to get rid of the stink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yuck.
- By ShaynLola Date 19.09.08 17:41 UTC
You can get rid of the smell of wet dog?!?  I'm impressed!  My car ALWAYS smells of wet dog...but then the dogs are in it most days and are, more often than not, wet so I suppose I can't expect anything else...

Perhaps i should have put this in the 'Things kids say' thread BUT

Just as I got back from a dog walk, my son gave me a hug and a bit like the Bisto kid said   "Ahhhh..................wet dog.........lovely"

He really meant it - says it's a smell that reminds him of home...........

                         should I be offended?!!

Possibly but get Lori's book of Homemaking and you'll be just fine
- By Astarte Date 20.09.08 08:29 UTC

Just had a thought (I do get them occasionally ;) )

I threw out a bag of frozen tripe a few months ago - it smelled off -even for tripe! - kind of foul and sour :-p  made me want to heave and nothing like the usual smell of tripe.   Was I being too fussy?
- By huskypup [us] Date 22.09.08 13:57 UTC
Possibly Dill, but then I wouldn't know 'cos I don't tend to breathe whilst dishing out tripe :D

My OH came up with a new energy saving idea and told me to get out the dogs food so that it defrosts during the the day (I usually give it a quick defrost in the micro).  Humpf I said  'you get it out then'.  It then occured to me that I could get him back.  OH gets home from work much earlier than I do (he starts a lot earlier too) so I got out the tripe and left it on the side in the kitchen uncovered to defrost.  Teehee, lovely smell greeted him when he got home.  Not a mention about energy saving since then.

I came home from my holiday to find two week old tripe that had been left there in spite of me cancelling the order.  Once you have seen it crawling with maggots and the stench of it you will NEVER want to see or smell tripe again.  To make matters worse it had been left on my front doorstep so the whole house stank as well.
