Any news on state of the ground at Driffield?

Wellies always in car plus raincoat !!!

Good luck to all that are attending with their dogs.

was at Driffield today, ground is soaking but NOT muddy,(might be in places by now) grass is a bit long round the carpark so feet are wet before getting to rings, sun came out and we were looking for shade!!!!!!

enjoy your day

Could someone please explain parking arrangements as no car parks are shown on the map that came with passes.

Does each benching tent have it's own allocated car park?  Is it a long walk in??

Just wondering what kit to pack - lol

Hi Vicky

car parking is brilliant, for example I was benched in tent 1, carparking was directly behind it-I thik it was the same for all tents. We arrived about 7.30 and were parked literally in spitting distance of the benches. I wish more shows were like this (and border union).

Oh and I was getting used to trudging through half a mile of mud and cr*p before reaching my benching tent only to find benches moved because a pond had taken up residence - LOL yeah I was at Richmond and Darlington.  Had a great time at both and credit to the committee's for actually managing to keep things going.  We knew what is was going to be like and took precautions and wellies etc.... can't understand people who go and then moan all day are they oblivious to the rain that they've had all week!!!!!!!!

Great news - let's hope the weather remains as it has this week and all should be fine for a nice show.

Thanks for the reply

Vicky

As we arrived at Richmond, one of the cars we passed was unloading their children.  All teens, all glossy lips and hair, all wearing 3/4 length jeans, all wearing bright white pumps!!

I didn't see the dogs unfortunately so I don't know where they were heading, but I also saw no sign of wellies or coats - I tried to spot them all day but no joy, I wonder what the girls must have looked like at the end of the show, perhaps they were just unrecognisable as Stig of the Dump?!!

Where did they think they were going?  I bet they won't go back...

Probably a silly question, but does anyone know what time judging starts, I've looked through the info with the passes, checked the website and the schedule, but can't see it mentioned anywhere.  I can't find the last ocuple of weeks dog papers, where I suppose it was published?
- By Dawn-R Date 18.09.08 21:47 UTC
9.00am Gwen, see item 3 on page 8 of the schedule.

I found it quite amusing that our dogs managed to publish the summary of entries in this weeks paper...better late than never?
- By gwen [gb] Date 18.09.08 22:14 UTC
Thanks Dawn, I was sure it was one of those things where you look every where and just don't see it!

- By briedog [gb] Date 19.09.08 07:16 UTC
are you going up there today clairey
- By ClaireyS Date 19.09.08 08:14 UTC
yes, getting the 11:50 train, we are staying in Leeds tonight then going up the show in the morning.  Just decided to pack my big boots in case of sloshy ground, bag now weighs a ton and ive got to carry it from my work to the train station (ok only a 10 minute walk but with Alf dancing around on the other arm im going to be a right sweaty mess by the time I arrive - and we are travelling 1st class  )
- By briedog [gb] Date 19.09.08 11:28 UTC
see you there

What are the rings like at Driff? What are the wet weather ones like? Do they have the half in half out layout like Bath?
- By Anndee [gb] Date 19.09.08 18:04 UTC
Been to Driffield at Wetherby r/c today, only live down the road, and the ground is absolutely fine. Drying out nicely. don't think anyone was using the wet weather rings.  Its been a lovely day and the weather forcast for the weekend is NO rain!! So everyone who's going tomorrow and Sunday, Enjoy! Parking is a breeze. Right behind the benching tent that you want to be in. The exit is well planned as well.

Was at Driffield yesterday (Friday) and we actually got the jackets off when the sun came out it was lovely.  A wee bit wet in places under foot but after being at Darlington on the Sunday it was nothing.

I was showing today and the grounds are fine. Some muddy patches here and there but nowhere you need to go. I brought wellies and left them in the car as they weren't needed. The ring was in good condition and my golden girl rolled around on the ground and didn't get a bit of mud on her. It was very warm, very sunny and I'm now very tan. :)
- By Henri3402 [gb] Date 20.09.08 20:21 UTC
We were there yesterday (Friday), the rings were fine, pleased to say we didn't need the wet weather rings (quite small) as the weather was good, no half in half out at Driffield.
- By ClaireyS Date 22.09.08 08:37 UTC
Teri, I looked for you by the flatcoat ring but couldnt find you - were you not wearing your red coat ??
- By briedog [gb] Date 22.09.08 11:39 UTC

- By ClaireyS Date 22.09.08 11:51 UTC
I spotted the orange top -didnt realise it was you.

we got on well with the train, thank god we were in first class as the rest of the train was rammed, I couldnt believe how good Alf was.

As for the show - we wont go there (total waste of time comes to mind !!!)
- By briedog [gb] Date 22.09.08 11:54 UTC
i think the road and the train was busy with kids off to uni that weekend.
