Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Frozen Meat Suppliers - who would you recommend?
- By tvn30 [gb] Date 17.09.08 21:06 UTC
Hi

Just after a bit of advice about frozen meat suppliers, I used a well known company a few months ago for my frozen tripe/liver etc and was very disapponted with the food. Some of it was already deforsted when we recieved it and the boxes it came in had all fallen apart.

I was hoping for a few recomendations of frozen meat suppliers, who will deliver to the cheshire area.

Thanks in advance

I've just ordered from Prize Choice and that arrived in perfect condition, all frozen.

I agree with Prize Choice (Anglian Meat Products).  I have tried Landywoods and TPMS but its just not the same standard of packaging, also their meat is very bloody and can be fatty.  AMP stuff is much easier to get out of the packet too, a bonus when you are vegetarian :-).  A friend have mine has used Landywood for years and another friend is happy with TPMS, so its obviously a personal choice.  Landywood and TPMS are, on the whole, a bit cheaper than AMP, although I get breeders terms so it works out cheaper for me.

Hi

I have been looking at the daf website, they look good! Is your friend happy with them?

Thanks

Hi

I used to get my tripe from prize choice, i was very happy with them. But like you say they are alot more expensive than other companies.

But then again there are good, so I may end up going back to them.

Thanks for the advice

Thanks for the info I have used two of the companies you mention. I was very impressed with one, but not at all impressed with the other.

Some people have recomended DAF have you ever used them?

Thanks

I have been buying my meat from Anglian meats for years, yes it may be a bit more expensive but the quality is always great, service brilliant and in all the years iv been with them i have never once been let down on a delivery, order is always correct and driver very pleasant, had a prob with a batch of meat last year and they changed it no hesitation, i can thoroughly recommend them, i think theyre great!

If you do a search on here for Landywoods you'll find many, many posters have had problems with them - they are cheap... but they're cheap!

I use redcastle now but they're a scotland only supplier so no use to you I'm afraid.

I have a friend that buys from DAF and she seems happy with them. I buy from Prize Choice and wouldn't change. They're great, the delivery guy is wonderful and the product is always of good quality and delivered in great condition.

I used Redcastles in the past as they were the only one since a year ago who delivered into the Highlands.  Have stopped using them though because of freezer space.  I buy now in local supermarkets and a game butcher.  Anyway, does Redcastles not sell Durham Animals Feed stuff?  Am not sure.

Blimey I never knew about others having problems with Landywoods too - I have just done a search......I thought it was just us.  Half the meat was 'honking' like it was off and the stuff that wasn't honking gave my girls the terrible squits - they normally have constitutions of oxes :(

We now use Berriewoods and they're fantastic - the chap who delivers to us is lovely as well - always helps carry the boxes to the freezer for me.  They're not as cheap as Landywoods but then I was sick of the blood covering the whole of my utility room like there was a mass murder in there - convenience definitely outweighs the cheapness.
