Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Moody in pregnancy?
- By Star [in] Date 15.09.08 16:14 UTC
My 6 year old could be about 4 weeks now, having her scanned tomorrow but for last couple of days has been soooo moody. Not wanting to do much, almost sulky if thats possible in a dog. Not interested in the other dogs at all or wanting to go out.
Its her second plitter but cannot recall her being like this last time. Is this a possible sign of being pregnant do you think. I will find out tomorrow but just curious as to why she seems so moody. Still eating ok etc/
Thnx

Hi Star,

One of my bitches was like that Hormones!! They do kick in earlier with second + pregnancies.

I think everyone has had a bitch like this.  First litter fine, goes like a breeze.  Second litter she hates everyone and everything and just wants to sit in her bed being miserable.  I had my first bitch like this to the vets so many times thinking something was wrong but she was fine but was of course pregnant.
Since that first experience I have learnt not to let them be that way.  Kept to the routine and insisted they spend some time outside with the others, for the first few times they just sit around looking at the world in disgust but they soon snap out of it.
So it sounds to me like you have a normal but pregnant girl on your hands.:-D

I have got a very stroppy fluffy dog at the minute.  Talk about narky!  She also wants loads of fuss from us but god help any dog who dares put a paw near her.

Mind you thinking back I know I was the same with my 2nd pregnancy as well but I always assumed it was because she was girl. :)

Successful scan result, so that explains her moodiness :)

Congrats on the successful scan but does mean you have to put up with the moodiness now :)
