Sad to say my bitch had her 5 week scan yesterday and we could see nothing !!
I'm so sad the only problem I have is that she seems to have her nip's pinking up and I'm sure that her tummy is rounding off a bit too so might be a fantom?
But then again what if it's not and I'm not expecting pups and haven't got all the stuff in

Has anyone else had nothing show up on the scan and then go on to have pups?

Sometimes it can be hard to see pups , especially in larger breeds where they can hide behind the rib cage, normally if you are unsure about the results of the scan the vet will offer another one free of charge.....give them a ring see what they say?

One of my dogs was used and the owner was told that there was nothing. Like you they were sure that there was something there.  They had her rescanned a couple of weeks before they were due and told maybe one or two and she had five.

Now I was shown a photo of her at this point and she was absolutely massive how the scanner person could say she wasn't pregnant ws beyond me!

Does she get a whiteish discharge?? Thats the best way of telling if they are carrying puppies. Some dogs dont show physically until around 6-7 weeks. My lab had 5 puppies and didnt show until 61/2 weeks so I wouldnt judge it on whether she looks as if she is carrying...
scans often dont show anything, so dont be complletely put out, but I wouldnt get my hopes up just in case the vets were right (for once)

When my bitch was scanned the vet saw TWO pups. She had 10 -so in other words the vet managed to miss a whopping 8 pups hiding somewhere.......

you are just going to have to be prepared just in case and if nothing happens you will at least be prepared for the next time.

I,ve just had my female scanned at 29 days, all the way to Germany for no puppies, devastated

well I had my bitch scanned on day 21 no pups, re scanned day 28 today no pups....Im not convinced as she has had discharge her nipples have been chaning she has had sickness and gone of fish....now I have had a blood test done today which we will get the results of hopefully tomorrow which will tell us either way....Im still holding a little bit of hope....I dont 100% trust scanning....

My friend had her bitch scanned on day 28 no pups....she didnt believe it went back on day 38 they saw at least 1 pup......

My female eating nothing and was sick twice last week, fingers crossed for you hun, i do trust my scan man he never been wrong yet.
Thats breeding for you, we dont know how many females the stud dog had before ours, they allowed 90 a year, and only allow 1 mating, will go back to him January as she is a 5 month female.

Have a look at my "another question about ultrasound" post - my friend was told zero pups on Monday, then 2 or 3 by the vet first thing this morn and then 15 minutes later, the Senior Partner said at least 10!  So confusing!

Thank you Yad, its hit home today, but i believe everything for a reason, this time was not meant to be.
