this is just a guesse (I don't breed), but as mum is running away from pups when they are OTT - isn't she teaching them that interaction with her must not be OTT?

At five weeks old she shouldn't have to feed them?
Best thing is to let her have time out away from them.
i see what your saying :) but with her last litter he did tell them ? this time she dont even want to be around them ?
hi missie , she has alot of time way as she dont want to be there ,but when her milk is full she feeds them and then wants to get away i have to stay with her or she jumps the gate and wouldnt feed them ,i let her feed them 1st thing in the morning , about 3 and than 10pm ,but she dont want to this time ? last time she feed till 6 and half weeks ! and was sorting them out ,but not this time ?

Hi
Are you feeding them as well? At five weeks mine were 'totted' up at night and they may have had a 'sneaky' drink if she got close enough to them but they were on solids by then and I just kept her teats washed down with a warm flannel - to stop them going hard - until the milk dried up.
I don't know what breed you have, mine are the large variety ;) , and are ready to leave at 7/8 weeks, so it could be different for a smaller breed if thats what you have?
I suspect their little teeth are really nipping her now and thats why she doesn't want to feed them? Ouch, I don't blame her neither :)

Don't know why she isn't telling them off, mine never did neither she would just keep out of their way.
Saying that though, now she has her daughter living with us (we kept one) if she gets too much she DOES tell her now.
Sorry, can't help.
thankyou anyway missie ,yes there fliping teeth lol ,thay are weaned now ,im going to let her milk dry up ,thay are having 4-5 small meals aday plus goats milk ,she was mainly feeding them at night but now im going to let her do what she likes and i know she will stay away now and at 5weeks thay will be fine not having mums milk ? xx

first my bitchs fed their pups up to the day the went to their new home just topping up,beacuse the dam wanted to be with the pups, not that i was telling her to be.
if the mum not telling off then you start tell off bye gently putting them off her bye the scuff of the neck, like she wuld if to puppies were playing about,
have you started to put her on maintance food to cut down on her milk supply
no i havnt put her on that yet ? do you meen adult food?

no back to the food and amout that she was on before mating
no not yet she still need building back up , shes very thin and need the extra cals still
