Topic Dog Boards / General / Dog starving in Council Pound - Basildon Council
- By pat [gb] Date 12.09.08 07:09 UTC
Hi, the news below in this link I think will cause dismay on how in a dog pound that is also a boarding kennel and cattery could possibly allow dogs to be starving and thin and others found in a freezer.

Please write to Basilon Council with your views or on the commnet page of newspaper.

The impounded dogs in Council pounds should not be neglected due to not finding homes, there is no excuse. Basildon has an Animal Control Officer.

There are three Councils using this pound Basildon, Castle Point and Rochford. There are not large numbers of strays, compared to some 165 bought in, 134 rehomed or reclaimed and 31 euthanased. There is no excuse for this to have happened.

Inspection report said premises basic.

Thats awful, I will be writing but a similar thing has happened in kennels when a dogu de bordeux was taken for looking like a pit (look nothing a like to me), they got the dog back after a year and it was thin with long nails, had fleas and worms.  In dog world a couple of weeks ago.  Kennels should at least do the most basic of care like keep them alive and in good weight!
