Hi, have any of you ever a done a house swap in the UK or abroad?
I'm looking for something in SW Scotland for next Easter (tied to school holidays) but, like many of you have mentioned before, it's not that easy to find somewhere that will take dogs. We have 2 medium ones but most places will only take one small dog. Some of these places are really expensive too for quite basic accommodation.
I wondered whether it might be worth investigating house swapping. If there was a dog friendly site it means that we could swap with proper dog people and have sensible conversations about the types of walks available. It could also mean that we might not need to take crates, beds and bowls with us; we could swap those too. Just imagine - I could also pre order my Arden Grange for the dogs to save car space!!
Do any of you know of such a site? It would be helpful if it was international as I was thinking about doing a USA swap sometime too (obviously without dogs) and I think it's more usual over there. We are in Somerset so might appeal to the Americans as we are pretty good for Devon, Cornwall, Cotswold etc and fast trains to London.
Any advice, opinions or experiences would be helpful, particularly with regard to security and insurance too. My husband thinks we'll need to do a risk/benefit analysis before deciding to even register with someone!! Thanks
