Holyhead only go to Southern Ireland don't they? P& O from Cairnryan go to Larne, Stranraer (Stena) goes to Belfast -either works just as well. Stena Line do a special rate for dog exhibitors, it's all in the Belfast schedule. That worked out, for us, a full £95 cheaper than P &O from Cairnryan! (We're going from Stranraer.) 2 people car and one dog (Stena don't charge extra for dogs, P & O charges £20 each way even though the dog stays in the car) with Stena under the special rate we paid £130 in total. But you need to hurry and book ASAP as they do get booked up quickly what with so many dog people going over. We go on the Saturday afternoon and show on the Sunday, go back again Sunday early evening. We have a 6 hours drive to get to the ferry from where we live.

I always go from Stranraer to Belfast & I have never booked using the schedule. I search online to find a cheaper option therefore, although I travel with Stena it is never booked direct with Stena ;)

I guess a lot depends on where you are starting out from.

Stranrear or Cairnryan to Belfast is about a 2 hour crossing or thereabouts and the ferry terminal is 10-15 minutes from the showgrounds.

The Holyhead route will bring you into Dun Laoghaire (Dublin).  Belfast is about a 2 hr drive in favourable traffic conditions...3 hours if you hit Dublin at rush hour.  The crossing takes about 90 mins.  If you do come via this route, be sure to have a few Euros on you for the toll road (dont know how much it is for transits...a car is E1.80 from memory but the price increases with the size of the vehicle.

PO do the same deal  infact cheaper deal for the dog show as I use PO and go to Larne as we have our club show the next day near larne. It is £115 including 2 people.  NO charge for dogs if booked on the show form.   if anyone wants a form to book it I have one I can copy

I am going on the 4am ish ferry from Cairnryan..  mines is booked and paid for so can confirm it is only £115 for the 2 people and I am taking 2 dogs.

That's cheeky of P &O, isn't it! It's not in the Belfast schedule and I certainly didn't see it anywhere on the website when I checked. They wanted £225 and had I not decided to go for Stena instead I can't see them asking if I am a dog exhibitor and would like the cheaper rate.......
