My cocker spaniel bitch had pups 9 days ago and still has upset tummy. We have fed her chicken/rice and fish/rice and have added natural bio yoghurt but nothing seems to clear this. All the puppies are healthy with no upset tums. Can anyone suggest another option to try?
By upset tum do you mean that she is loose, or are there other symptoms? If she is doing a good job of cleaning up after the pups then she will be loose until you start doing that job for her. If there are other symptoms then I would have had her at the vet for treatment by now. There could be an underlying problem that might need AB's.
if the bitch as eat most of the sacks this will be why !! check with your vet ,this happend to my girl with her last litter but this time she didnt eat them all and was fine, ive forgot the name of the stuff i got from vets its a white chorky med x

I agree it is either from her eating all the sacks or from cleaning the pup. Normal for a bitch to be loose while nursing, when they start to do their business without mums help she will firm up again. If she has any other symptoms than being loose then get a vet to give her the once over.

Thanks to everyone for their replies. You have put my mind at rest about her now. I am only 2nd time breeder so it is helpful to receive suggestions and it must be to do with her cleaning the pups (she definetly doesn't like doing it as you can see it in her eyes, bless her.) Although she has been a brilliant mum to the pups.
