For some reason I seem to have problems with blades (7f mainly which is what I probably use most)
After a few weeks they seem to start to drag. I am not a massive grooming concern so its not as if they are overused and I do have 4 of these blades. They are Wahl and Oster. I am now thinking perhaps I am doing something wrong in haoew I care for the. I spray to lubricate them, clean them after use and store in clipper storage box. Any advice to offer?
Thanks

It sounds as though they just need sharpening. If you are using them commercially, even clipping just 2 or 3 dogs a day, they will need sharpening about once every 4 to 5 weeks. I always used to have 3 sets of each blade size so that I could send them away regularly. Also, they don't have an infinite life span. Every time they are sharpened, each tooth loses a minute amount of it's cutting edge and there does come a time when it work out cheaper in the long run to replace them. The more times the blades have been sharpened, the shorter the time they will stay sharp.

Gosh, that often. Think I better put my prices up.LOL The person I trained with only sends hers about 2/3 times a year so I thought I was doing something wrong :-(

I have been using anglia but despite they advertise 2 working day turn around it seems to take a week or more. When I queried it i was told 'they were waiting for parts'
How often do you get yours sharpend?

I send mine to Clippersharp, they are very quick on turn round, the only thing is I keep asking them to tell me how badly the blades had needing doing as I don't know how often to do them. Probably only use the blades once or twice a week though it does vary, and I have 2 7F and 2 5F which I grab randomly from the box so no idea which is getting more used.
Stealing the topic slightly, is there any way to get a hydraulic table overhauled? I've tried websites which explain how to do stuff and it's all Greek to me, my OH has tried letting out air or something and it improved briefly but is now back to the old bad habits of not pumping up fully or properly.

One by one I have been changing over to the newer ceramic blades, a bit dearer but i have found they stay shaper for much longer.

Don't use the spray lube it is a common cause for the problem you are having. just use a drop of oil on each of the areas the 2 blades rub. I get my blades sharpened maybe once a year and they are used daily in the shop. Sometimes it's a case of doing less to get more wear out of them!
