Hi
Wondered if anyone could provide any suggestions. My 6 year old collie x has all of a sudden (started about 3 weeks ago) started to really smell around her chest smels like edam cheese! She has wirey fur and this has become thicker in this area. Her skin seems fine nice and pink. I bathed her last week but the smell came back in hours.
Any suggestionds on what could be going on geatly recieved.

Take her to the vet. There are several skin conditions that can cause these symptoms so you need to get the right treatment.

Cheesy smells can indicate a fungal growth on the skin.  So a trip to the vets to find out.

Thanks for your replys. I've taken her to the vet he said its either an allergy or fungal problem so she has medication for both so will have to see how she goes.

Hi it sounds like the same trouble my rough collie has got. Her skin is smelly ,like cheese. Last time the vet gave me a shampoo to put on her once a week. Did your vet give you anything to bath your dog in.?

Yes I've got some shampoo to bath her in once a week for a month and then if it doesn't go away I need to take her back. But I am pleased to say that after 1 bath and a few days of tablets she has stopped scratching and now has a much sweeter smell!!
