Hi folks,
Nellie, my Patterdale Terrier, has finally (at the age of 12 months and 10 days!) come into her first season. We intend to have her spayed, and having had a quick word with the vet surgery, she'll probably have her op in late Nov/early Dec (i.e a good 3 months after her season has finished).
Nellie is a semi-working dog - meaning that she "goes to work" full time with my husband. Her "job" largely involves of chasing rabbits and squirrels just for the hell of it, playing with 3 other large dogs, and trotting around the 50 acre estate either alongside my hubby when he is on foot, or galloping in the wake of the various tractors, mowers etc that he drives.
So my question is, to all those experienced in having a small high energy dog spayed, how much recovery time should I give her before she can go back to work? I can only feasibly take a week off work to stay home with her - she is not accustomed to being left alone at home you see, she's not a stay-at-home dog!
If I work it right, she could have a total of 9 days off work. Is that enough - I guess she'll have her stitches out on the 10th day anyway?
Would be interested to learn of others experiences!
Thanks
Susie
