Topic Dog Boards / Health / NOW ITS HER LIVER!!!

Hi All. I have posted on here before about my girl who is nearing the end of her treatment for GME, which has been for 16mths. I've just had vet ring me with her latest blood results, which are done after each chemo cycle. When i took her for these last bloods, i learnt that vets had only been testing for her red & white cells. I know from the specialist that she was to have a complete blood count 7days post chemo, so it appears they haven't been doing what they were instructed to !!. So i asked them to do a complete count & vet rang today to tell me all fine apart from her liver enzymes which are grossly elevated !!!
My girl is on long term low dose prednisolone for her airway disease, but vet didn't query this until i asked if she should come off it. So now its going to be tailed off.  If i hadn't brought the subject up presumaby she'd have  been left on it !!!
My girl only has one more cycle of chemo to have & now i don't know if she should have it. No one knows how she'll be when her chemo stops, whether she'll relapse the GME. She's so bright in herself at the moment i'm just so surprised her liver appears to be damaged, from the pred i presume. I'm also so very ANGRY that my vets have not done what the specialist requested. If they had, presumably these enzymes would have been picked up when the liver wasn't so badly affected. I had faith in my vets and now i've lost confidence in them. Yet they have us over a barrel don't they.
