After 20 years working in education I feel more than ready for a change. As I still have kids at school it would need to be a term-time only job preferably part-time. Just wondered if any of you have such a job and who you work for?
Thanks

Can i ask why you want to leave , as i am in the same position as you but i am thinking of a job change 'into' education .
School librarian where you can work part time and still give the benefit of your education and experiance. Pays not brilliant but could be a smooth move over for you? Or I hate to say it Parish Clerk's job ( ive been in one council or another 20 years now!) I retired once as a Town Clerk and the older lady Clerk in the village died in her sleep so i got asked to caretake the job, 5 years later Im still here 12 hours a week £8000 per annum. As a Town Clerk I was on £30K when I retired 5 years ago, there thousands of posts of various sized local parish council's. I do one evening meeting per 6 weeks!!

Oooo....what does a town clerk have to do Whistler? I quite fancy that!
I worked in a school in the classroom. Although it fitted in great with my family I really didn't enjoy it so I decided to leave. I'd happily work in a school office though, or the library even. I'm doing some casual work in the family business at the moment and finding anything else that fits in with the family is proving difficult. I still wouldn't want to be back in a classroom though - it's just not for me. I've thought about setting up a dog walking business but decided that I didn't want to be responsible for other peoples dogs. I'll keep looking. Good luck with your search :-)
Mainly control 21 Councillors! I had to do all the account management (million budget) control all meetings I had about two a week, built 4 pavilions, sports facilities, minutes, agendas all the legal bits and pieces. Making sure the council does what it can legally. Planning, Recreation (running sports facilities) letters, negociating with developers ect.
Its was quite high powered really and I got sick to death of the politics, now I have 12 nice Councillors, no politics about £50K budget 1 sportsfield and its lovely.
I took Hedge End when I was 35 in 1991 and got out in 2002, I did another small council since my youngest was born in 1987. I was a single mum in 1997 (after my X left when Sam was 6 months old) it fitted in with my life then. When I moved to a big council in 1991 I had just married my OH and I had help with the boys and as the hours were both day and evening the boys always had me at home when they came home from school. Now its pin money but nice for extras that OH does not know I spend - mainly on my boys!! Its a good job with expenses and nice people. Town Clerk is hard, but the financial rewards allowed my OH to build up his business where we all work now!!

Oh, not much to do then Whistler! ;-)
Seriously, it sounds very interesting but very hard work. I wouldn't know where to start!
Thank you for replying though - it's certainly something I'll bear in mind for the fututre when my children are a bit older.
I live in Hampshire too and I'm just off to Hedge End..........
Thanks Whistler :-)
Ah a Local Im Twyford P.Clerk now !! Hedge End got so big I built the Turnpike Way Pavilion, 2000 Centre, Bowling Green at Woodhouse Lane. Now I just have Hunter Park its lovely!!! Its a good job to start small like Twyford and then grow there 43 parishes in Winchester District so there's always vacancies usually in the Hants Chronicle and you get a mentor so you dont start in the dark as it were. Im a mentor myself so we are always on the phone, give it a go Its kept me busy since I had kids I was a Librarian before (if you hadnt guessed) Im a builder now!!!

Ahhh...I wondered where to look. I've just been looking on Hantsweb but didn't have much luck. I think I'll get a Hants Chronicle this afternoon. Thanks Whistler :-)
(I really am off to Hedge End now - good old M&S)
On ' This Morning ' yesterday they mentioned getting paid for answering questions on the net , i am not sure how you would find out about it and i can't find a link on their site .
However , i believe that there is work you can do at home.
